Figure out what the hell happened

You walk away from the village, taking the main road, for several minutes. You were quite confused, once the adrenaline of the fight wore off and you began to think clearly.

First off; NPCs are supposed to be immortal if they aren't enemies. But you had just killed upwards of twenty of them. And they didn't revive right away, so it wasn't a glitch.

Second; Why the heck had 'getting killed by a hacker' turned into 'becoming a player character'. Seriously, why had that happened.

Thirdly; Where were you?

You open up the player menu, but before you can hit the map button, you note the mail icon is glowing and has a little '1' next to it. You tap the symbol, not knowing what to expect.

"Subject: New Expansion

Hello, players of -----------! This letter is to inform you of a new expansion to the game, entitled 'Prince of Darkness'! Additions include:

A new late-game dungeon, 'Temple of Corruptis! This new location features several new bosses and even an encounter with the Dark Prince himself!

New enemies, including Dark Priests, Corrupted Paladins and Seducers of Corruptis! Beware their ability to turn allies and villagers against you!

A new live event, 'The Dark Crusade'! The Dread Knight Makaidos has left his former base in Fort Shadowgulch and is rallying an army of monsters as the so called 'Champion of Corruptis', all in the name of eradicating the light and bringing about the end of world!"

You raise an eyebrow at this. So, you were some sort of 'event' now? You shrug, before looking at the map.

So, weren't so far away from where you started after all. There were maybe ten kilometres between you and Fort Shadowgulch. Now the question was; where to go now?
