What do they find inside?
Lucy stumbles and they fall atop Edmund
Lucy lurched forward, feeling for the door handle, and opened it, fleeing the corridor before anyone saw her carrying Clarissa in her arms. Lucy pressed the door of Edmund's cabin closed behind her. In her haste, the overburdened Lucy stumbled and fell. As they toppled, Clarissa released Lucy's lips and shrieked.
They landed atop the lower bunk. And upon Edmund.
"Damn, blast, what?" Edmund exclaimed. "Leave off, Clarissa, are you having a nightmare? Lord, woman, move, you're crushing me."
"Lu-lu-lu-lu..." Clarissa blubbered.
"What?" Edmund said.
"Lucy!" Clarissa said.
"Off me, whoever is there!" Edmund said.
There was an irritated pounding upon the partition separating the adjacent cabin. A gruff voice made a peremptory demand in German.
Clarissa and Lucy untangled themselves. Lucy kindled the electric light.
Edmund stared at the disheveled females in his cabin. His petite, redheaded wife was enveloped in Lucy's oversized shawl while Lucy wore a coat over her nightshirt.
"Lucy is in love with me!" Clarissa declared vehemently, if at a moderate volume.
Lucy froze. Her face renewed its red bloom of anger. A muscle jumped in her cheek.
Edmund blinked at the both of them with an irritated look on his face. "However that might be, it can wait till morning," he said. Addressing Lucy, he said, "Miss, good night." He turned to Clarissa. "Madam, may I assist you to your bed?"
Lucy put her hand upon the door handle.
"No, don't go, Lucy, give me a kiss!" Clarissa demanded.
