Call Aiden

You woke up, showered, ate breakfast, and then laid on the couch. You thought about yesterday. You thought about the bar, the people, the alcohol, the... Aiden. What was it about this guy? You knew you didn't go to a gay bar, or even a bar that a lot of gay or bi people go to. Why did he like you so much. You felt like questioning the hell out of the situation until you never wanted to hear the word 'Aiden' without scowling, but you couldn't.

Your life had been so dry lately. Plain day. Plain night. Plain relationships with friends and family. Plain meals. Plain movies. And, occasionally, if you were really lucky, plain sex. You had even lost interest in masturbating more than once a week. Why would you throw away the guy who made one night better than the last 365 combined? So he kissed you, you'd get over it, but if you never talked to this guy again, you'd regret it for the rest of your life. He has a Penthouse and he likes to play video games. Now that sounds like a friend you want around.

You pulled the business card from your shirt pocket out of the dirty laundry and pulled out your smartphone. You entered the 10 digits and let the phone ring.

Ring... Are you sure? There's no real backsies with this guy, you think to yourself. Once your lives are intertwined, there will be no unweaving them. You'll forever be fated to run into each other and effect each other's lives.

Ring... Who are you to question this now? Now is the moment of truth. This is how you're going to change your life. First, it'll be Aiden. Then, that new job, new car, makeover for Jennifer if she wants one.

Ring... Any moment now, you'll hear that voice. What will you say? What if you can't speak? What if he can't hear you? What if he doesn't want to see you? What if he was just playing you for a fool to get his rocks off?

Ring... "Hello... You've reached Aiden Monterro with Diamond Investing, please leave a message with your number and I'll return your call at my earliest convenience."

You feel disappointed, but decide to leave a message just in case. "Hi Aiden. We met at the bar last night and I had a lot of fun. You mentioned you liked video games and I was just wondering if you might want to hang out sometime. Give me a call back." You leave your number and hang up. You sigh and set your phone on the coffee table.

You head to the kitchen and grab a glass, fill it with coke, and take a drink. Suddenly, you hear your phone vibrating and ringing. You walk over briskly, you see that it's Aiden's number and you immediately pick up. "He... Hello?"

"Hey man, sorry I missed your call. Tried to accept it, but my phone was acting goofy. Maybe it's time for a new one, who knows." You let out a sigh of relief. "Ya man, I'd love to just kick it and play some video games with you. Wanna come over tonight? I'll pick you up."

You were surprised, "Yeah. Yeah that'd be great." You smile.

"Great, awesome, well don't get too dressed up, I'll be there in 10. See you then." He hung up. You were feeling really happy and adventurous. Today was going to be another great day. You headed to the closet and looked at Jennifer, "Hey, I'm going to go hang out with Aiden, I'll have my phone on me if you need me." Her eyes lit up.

"Yay! I'm so happy that you've found a friend honey." She smiled. You cleaned up a little, combed your hair, kissed your wife, and started heading down the stairs to wait in the lobby.
