Better safe then sorry
You decide to save the last 10 for an illusion. If he can't hit you, he can't kill you.
Now, the last thing you need to worry about is his aura. You have no clue what it does. It could sap your HP or MP, it could render stat lowering skills useless, or it could allow him to see through your illusion. You don't know, that alone could, would, determine the outcome of the battle.
Come to think of it, you don't even know what type of monster it is. Every time the world loads up you die right after the spiders.
If its some sort of undead monster, it'll have low resistance to magic. If its some sort of ghost or Mage, it'll have high resistance.
What is it?
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
