To Visit Her Doctor

Iris wondered if maybe her sudden interest in dating might be psychological. Since she did not know any psychiatrists, she decided instead to set up an appointment with her family doctor. On Monday, the appointment arrived, and she drove to the clinic he worked at. She only had to sit in the waiting room for ten minutes before she was called back to see him.

Iris trusted Doctor Pavlov more than anyone else she knew, and he knew her very well too, having been her doctor since she was five. If anyone was going to know what was causing this sudden interest in men, it would be him. Iris climbed up on the examination table and sat near the edge of it, while Doctor Pavlov took his usual seat in a swivel chair near a small desk.

"Hello, Iris. It's been a while since you've been here, so I must assume you've been rather healthy the past six months?" He asked her as he quickly scanned over her medical charts. "What went wrong recently, that brings you here today?"

Iris gulped, and suddenly felt a bit silly to have taken time out of his schedule for something most would see as frivolous. Still, she gripped the sides of the table and blurted out a reply. "All of a sudden, I've become interested in dating and finding me someone who loves me. I've never felt this way before my birthday, and it's confusing me."
