Despite the burning pain in your legs, and the creeping exhaustion in your mind, you know you have to keep moving. Sitting still, especially in a place like this, is bound to see you caught by the Infected chasing you.

Groaning, you push yourself to your feet, then pull your pack on. Flashlight and pistol in hand, you turn towards the direction of the draft, and set off again.

It takes you less than two minutes to hit the end of the tunnel. It angles up, ending beneath a flat patch of ceiling. After pressing your ear against it for a moment, you're reasonably certain there is nothing above it. Still uncertain of what you will find, you carefully push against the ceiling, and are rewarded by it lifting away from the tunnel.

The scent of the forest immediately assails your nose, the crisp, cool air surrounding you. You breathe a quiet sigh of relief. Better here than in another building.

The scent of smoke drifts by on a slight breeze. Taking a look around, you can see you're on the side of a hill, about a mile from the lodge. You're close enough you can see the Infected milling about the lot, but far enough away you should avoid their notice. Off to the east, you can see the highway you had followed up here. It's a few miles off, and looks deserted aside from the odd Infected ambling between the cars. To the west, farther away from the highway, sits a cabin. It's about two miles off, nestled at the end of a small ravine, and...well-prepared is the best description to come to mind. It's surrounded by layers of razor wire, and various other things. The walls are sandbagged, and the windows are covered. Dead Infected litter the lawn around the building, left to rot. There's no doubt there's survivors there, but...no normal person you can think of would have access to that many resources.

The question in your mind is where to go for supplies. Back to the lodge, risk the cabin, or hope there's something in one of the cars? Or outright avoid them all, and take a shot at finding your way through the woods? There are plentiful streams around here, though food may be a bit harder to find.
