Vegas Comic-Con Wrong but yet right?
The Vegas sun beat down on the blacktop like a pissed-off blacksmith hammering at his anvil. Myka, bless her soul, was already sweating through her blouse – and it wasn’t even noon yet.
“You sure this is where Artie said the artifact would be?” she asked, wiping beads of perspiration from her brow with the back of her hand.
I grinned, tugging my baseball cap lower over my forehead to shield my eyes. “Yep, right here in the heart of Sin City’s biggest Comic-Con.” I gestured at the sprawling convention center ahead, a behemoth of neon and flashing lights advertising everything from superhero figurines to anime body pillows.

The costumed characters – everything from Stormtroopers to Power Rangers to life-sized Pikachu – weaved between throngs of equally enthusiastic attendees.
Myka immediately started navigating us through the crowd like a seasoned pro, her eyes scanning for any sign of our artifact capture target. I, on the other hand, was in my element. This was pure sensory candy: vintage comic books stacked high, action figures bigger than toddlers, and enough cosplay to make your head upper and lower body spin.
I snagged a free foam sword from a promotional booth – always good for impromptu duels with Myka – and we continued our trek through the maze of vendors and panels.
“There!” Myka suddenly exclaimed, pointing towards a table tucked away in a quieter corner. It was piled high with dusty trinkets: tarnished silver lockets, chipped porcelain dolls, ancient-looking scrolls tied with faded ribbons. A woman sat behind it, her back to us as she meticulously arranged a display
