A Muddy Puppy
James was a clever puppy. Sir and the women wouldn't find him. James had burrowed under a bush, digging in the mud and getting leaves stuck all over. He did his best to not wag his tail as he lay there, nearly invisible.
Puppies aren't very good at measuring time. James wasn't sure how long he laid there. He know he saw Sir walk by twice, looking for him. James recognized Sir's shoes. Maybe later Sir would let James chew on those shoes a bit. That sounded like fun.
James' puppy thoughts were interrupted when he heard Sir call, "Here James. Come here boy." James crawled out from under the bush, and then trotted on all fours over to his Sir. James was so proud to have hidden so well.
Sir took one look at James and exclaimed, "Look at you. You're a mess. You must have been hiding somewhere very dirty, weren't you. Yes you were, yes you were." Sir said, playfully. "Let's find somewhere to get you hosed off." Sir turned to the two women. "I'm sorry, but I need to take my puppy for a quick bath. I hope you understand. It was lovely to meet you." The women nodded and continued their walk, talking about the strange encounter they experienced.
