Does it come to you?
Two odd spells are revealed.
Lying there, hands folded on your stomach, you concentrate on your breathing. In, out, in, out, a sound peaks your ears, some form of beast running perhaps, hooves beating the ground, a flash, it is you. Your eyes pop open, you have it a first spell. You are sure of it. It seems to be called “Mount.” As far as you can tell you simply concentrate on that form, and say the spell. You can't be exactly sure what it will do, but you are sure it will let you move fast. “Interesting, is there more.” Once again you close your eyes, clasp your fingers together and let your mind flow. All you can hear is yourself, and the world seems to flow away, your heart beats in your chest and the thumping, rhythmic, flows into words, someone is talking to you, giving you an order. “Yes ma'am.” You say aloud your body jolts as if waking suddenly from a dream. A second deceptively powerful spell, “Serve.” Reveals itself. If cast on someone that fails to resist, it plants a devious deception in their mind to see you as a known servant just arriving to carry out some task. If one is there, they may tell it to you, often revealing something they might not want to reveal, or simply ignoring your presence. The magic also seems to work far stronger on someone accustomed to being served or that considers themselves to be above others. “That could go bad easily, but it is interesting.” A third time you allow your mind to wonder, for an hour you lie there quietly, but nothing comes. “Well I guess that is it. I suppose I will have to learn more. Now what can you show me.” You say to the little green gem he tied to your wrist. Looking into it you can see that you have a long trip ahead of you. It also seems there are two paths. One long across several dimensions, or planes, or whatever. The other far quicker through a portal, obviously guarded.
The only question is, which way to go? Assuming you even want to try.
