Start of the Day

I'm texting my friend Tina as I'm walking into the kitchen. Really I should have been paying attention to where I was going because I walked into a chair hitting my nuts on it." Ugh! My balls!" I drop my phone and cup my aching balls. My mom turns around quickly." Ari, are you alright?!"

I massage my nuts as I answer her. "Yeah, I'm okay, I wasn't paying attention and hit my balls on the chair." She sighs." Sweetie you really need to be more careful. I swear you've always been so accident prone down there." She shakes her head as I pick up my phone and sit at the table. The pain in my testicles already subsiding.

I finish my text to Tina telling her I'll meet her at the Grand Heights Shopping Center in two hours . My mom puts a plate of sausage, eggs and toast in front of me then sits across from me." So are you two going clothes shopping today?" I take a bite of eggs then answer." We might. Mostly I want to get a toaster, microwave, hangers and other stuff we'll need for our apartment."

Thankfully Tina is also going to Ohio State with me so we can be roommates. All of the sudden my mom gets all misty eyed." Feels like it was just yesterday I was changing your diapers. Now look at you, getting ready to leave for college. My baby's all grown up." We hold hands from across the table and she adds." I love you so much sweetheart." I start to cry as well. An hour later I start heading out to the shopping center to meet Tina.
