VD - Fundraising Part 1

Demi is supportive of you running for office with Morrigan, but you worry that it defeats the purpose of you being a housewife. If you and Demi both work, that leaves no to stay home with the baby. Demi has to explain to you that if you’re the Vice Demon, she doesn’t have to work anymore.

That makes sense. You like the idea of being the breadwinner. You enjoy Lady D, her daughters and Cas and Pol… they make each day feel like a funny sitcom with lots of sex, but it’s exhausting. There’s also this sense of pressure that you have to keep them happy.

Working in politics probably is not less stressful, but… you got yourself into this whole hiring people to build a castle mess because you wanted to do your part for Demi and your new family. You still have that desire when you ring the doorbell at Morrigan’s beautiful manor in downtown Demon City.

In the past, you have always visited this place when there was a party going on. Music, nudity, orgy antics… that was the usual. With none of that going on it’s just a nice house with some suspiciously playful amenities.

Morrigan greets you herself, although you see maids and butlers scurrying around the house busily. She takes you upstairs to her office, which is surprisingly normal. There, you sign the document that formally makes you her running mate.

“Don’t tell anyone just yet,” she warns you as she rolls up the scroll and puts it away. “I haven’t announced my candidacy yet. Everyone who pays attention is expecting me to, but we we still need to wait.”

“What are we waiting for?” you ask. It’s not that you’re impatient, you just don’t know how any of this works. When do they do elections in Demon World? What month is it? Does Demon World have normal months? There is so much that you don’t know.

“We’ll have to run a good campaign. That means a well-funded campaign. We have to fundraise,” she says.

“You seem pretty loaded,” you say, gesturing at her incredible house.

“Riley, this isn’t the human world. Economics are different here. It’s not about money and numbers, it’s about social capital. Your energy is so valuable because of scarcity. Paying for things myself sends the wrong message. My campaign is strengthened when people see who is supporting me,” Morrigan explains.

You… kind of get it.

“So what does fundraising look like?” you ask. You have to assume that you won’t be doing, like, a bake sale.

“We’re going to meet with some of the most powerful and influential demons. And we’ll have to convince them to support us.”

“How?” you ask.
