It's that time, where to?

OVA: Komaru's brother complex

We travel to the not too distant past for our side adventure. Makoto Naegi is two, and was recently learning what it is to be a big brother to his one year old sister, Komaru. Even with the near nondifference in age, young Makoto was determined to be the best brother he could be. "Komaru-chan, can you say 'mama'?" The child had been making more coherent sounds as of late, and on their doctor's advice, were engaging the one year old in language as much as possible. As a timer sounded, the mother was **** to attend the family's meal. "Mako-kun, I have to check on dinner. Can you watch Komaru for a minute?" The boy was happy to watch his sister, and as their mother tended the meal, Makoto decided to try his luck at wringing a word from his sister.

"Komaru, can you say 'onii-chan'?" He didn't expect this to work, but seeing her mouth move to try moved the little boy. His mom came back in short order, not wanting to leave the children alone for too long, but as Makoto left the couch, something surprised them both.

"Onii-chan!"

"Did you hear that?! She said her first word!" Mrs. Naegi was ecstatic. She couldn't wait to tell her father when he got home.

"And it was...Onii-chan..." Mr. Naegi came home soon after, and while happy at knowing his daughter's first word (and laughing at the circumstances), he still had trouble getting a now uncooperative Komaru to eat.

"Come on, Komaru-chan, you need to eat." Komaru was being uncharacteristically stubborn. Turning away from her food in a huff.

"Onii-chan!" Already used to being called that jokingly by his relatives, Makoto turned toward his sister. Picking up the spoon, Makoto tried to feed his sister a bite of her food. She could handle the plastic utensils, albeit clumsily, but Makoto took the first step in this instance.

"Come on, please eat, Komaru." The baby opened and swallowed the food before wrapping her brother's face in her small limbs. As her chubby hands found purchase around him, the baby said her favorite (and only) word one more time.

"Onii-chan!"

"That girl is going to have such a brother complex when she grows up." Mrs. Naegi hadn't seen more obvious signs of anything in her life.

"Umhm." Mr. Naegi was tired, but could still see the signs. Surely it wouldn't grow to be too bad.
