Chapter 22 by Tunathetitan Tunathetitan

Classes being classes

Date night

This time I was prepared for Ash to show up early. I was out on one of the benches our complex keeps near the main roundabout. She pulled up and lowered the window on the door facing me. She unlocked the car and I slipped in. Just like that we were off.

“How you doin?” She said in her best Joey from friends impression.

“I’m alright, a bit tired. But alright.”

“Is it just alright? Or” she did a single hand of air quotes “al-right”

“I’m a bit frustrated with the whole daisy thing. A few other things, but that one for sure.”

“Fair. It’s a frustrating thing. And she’s not making this terribly easy. But you deserve better than her. And you have my word I won’t cheat on you.” She took a breath and said the last bit with panache.

“I appreciate it.” Smirkingly “And I appreciate you being so kind about this whole thing.”

“Of course, you deserve to be treated as a person so. I’mma do that.” We finished our drive there and arrived at the theatre. We were seeing a fun, simple movie. I didn't know much about it going in. We had seats at the back of the theatre, it was preview time and so we were able to very easily slip in and get the nice chairs set up for us. She placed her hand in mine and we were in trailer monotony. Poking fun or saying whether or not we’d see the movie. Eventually our movie began.

I was semi notorious at school for buying 20 dollar cheap simple watches.I didn’t need much else out of them. My most recent one however, had glow in the dark hands. So knowing this I checked when the movie started. I didn’t like to look at my watch during a movie. But sometimes the movie does it to itself. Well. fifteen minutes into this film. Ash decided to lay her head on my shoulder, brushing just a bit closer overall. I only knew cause she had to move my arm a bit to do so. And I wanted to see what was going on. Not that I was gonna complain about being this close with my date.

I decided to nuzzle my cheek against her head. My hand reached over to her and held hers. I slipped my way in and interlocked our fingers. Her skin was soft, warm. A small warmth, not a christmas hot coco. But a blanket getting laid across as you as you start to wind down after a tiring day. She smiled, I guessed so at least. Given the feeling of her face on my shoulder. She had begun to run her thumb along my hand, which was also pleasant.

A little while later she withdrew her hand and pulled herself away. I was confused, had I done something wrong? Nope, she was just pulling the arm up so our seats would merge. She put my arm around her and laid her head on my shoulder again. Reaching over and grabbing my other hand.

“I just kinda want to be held right now.” Ash whispered. “I had a not great day yesterday and just need this.” She had squeezed my hand a little when she said that. The rest of the movie didn’t matter. I just wanted to take care of her at this point. Again resting my head on hers and scratching her back lightly. This was the warmth and feeling in general I had wanted. I missed it from Daisy. Cuddling was easily the best thing about being with another person. Sex was good, but in general. Just being able to enjoy that warmth. That made this moment exactly what I needed.

End of the movie was pretty decent. Nothing too flashy. We sat through the whole credits, I didn’t want to say anything. She was comfortable, I was comfortable it was our own time for us. Shortly after the lights came up for the house she groaned. “I don’t wanna.”

Smirkingly “I don’t wanna either. But we gotta. Why don’t you and I get up, and grab some food?”

“Dinner it is, but I pick.”

“Well you are driving, so sure.” She released, standing up. I followed suit, tailing behind her made our way to the car.

“You’re a good cuddler. So far anyway.”

“Thanks”

“You have anything tomorrow?”

“Nope. Why?”

“I wanted to know how long I could keep you.” We had started making our way out by this point. I didn’t know what she had in mind but I wasn’t complaining. She drove us around for a little while before we arrived at dinner. It was an Italian place. No, not olive garden, a small family run place.

Onward, to the food!
