Chapter 5

Angie Turner had been pleasantly surprised.

Her experience at The Carrington had been surprisingly nice. The country club itself was grand and all the members welcoming. She had made a couple of new acquaintances there and while she wasn’t going to be one of the people who seemingly hung around every day, she did like it. The staff treated her with respect. All in all it had shown itself to be a great experience.

For two weeks.

Things started to change thereafter. The attitude of the members grew a little chilly. People stopped looking her in the eye. And no one was ever available for lunch. What had happened, she wondered.

“Oh hello dear!”

Angie looked up and saw her old school classmate Vanessa walking her way. Vanessa had been the biggest snob in a school full of them. By Angie’s account she had turned into a full on socialite who did nothing but hang around The Carrington all day long.

“Hi Vanessa,’ Angie smiling as Vanessa walked past. “Hey, can I ask you a question?”

Vanessa stopped and turned around, smiling. “Of course.”

Vanessa looked Angie up and down quickly. She was jealous of Angie's firm very real C cup breasts and her shapely hips.

“I don’t know if this is just me but it seems like people here… don’t like me very much. And I don’t understand because it had been going so well. You seem to know everything about this place. Have you heard anything? About me?”

Vanessa had not heard anything about Angie, but of course she had been telling people all kinds of things about Angie. Mainly that Angie had ‘sticky fingers’. That she liked to take things. Not that she needed it, but rather it was fun for her to steal little things. It was just the right piece of gossip for a place full of stuffy old crows who loved to spread rumors.

“Oh my God, I’m so sorry you feel that way. No. I haven’t heard anything about you one way or another. But you know, unfortunately a place like the Carrington isn’t for... everyone. Could it be you’re just not fitting in here?” Vanessa said, thinking she was working some genius strategy.

Angie began to wonder why she bothered to talk to Vanessa at all. The woman had not changed at all since high school. Still walking around in fancy dresses and those silly white gloves with her nose in the air. No wonder she was always hanging out here. This snob's entire identity is tied up in this silly country club.

"Actually, I thought I was fitting in just fine here," Angie said.

"Ah, see there is your problem. Thinking you know and actually knowing are not the same thing," Vanessa said. She tried to seem serious but just was just enjoying herself too much.

"Hmm, well I guess. I have to go. I'll see you later Vanessa," Angie said and started walking down the hallway, not wanting to waste another moment in the presence of this superior snob.

Vanessa watched Angie head down the opposite end of the hallway and smiled. She stared at Angie's round shapely bottom as she walked away.

Hmph, she thought to herself, I'll be glad to be rid of THAT once and for all!
