Chapter 4 by Chunger Chunger

Is everyone there?

Yep!

You enter the room and your captain rolls her eyes.

“Spencer finally showed up. What took you so damn long? I almost had to put agents in jeopardy looking for you!” She starts to shout before realizing her situation, and continuing the scolding at a hushed tone.

“I kept having to hide from workers.” You meekly respond.

She snatches the tail from your hands and places it on a table next to all the other gathered items.

“Abbott and Gonzalez. I want you two to rework the helmet so that it’s mental erosion effects are disabled. We should also try to add a speaker so that communication can be made possible.

I’m not sure of what the shackles are meant to do or how they work, so there isn’t much that we can do to alter them. Everything else is a non-technical component.”

Your captain runs the remaining 4 of you about what the mission is going to be while Abbott and Gonzalez use the tool kits they snuck in with them to work on the helmet since they’re the electrical expert and the mechanical expert.

You run through the goals.

Find out how this operation is working: Unless we know every detail, we can’t be prepared to take it down.

After we’ve figured out the system, we’ll have to quickly eliminate all of the employees at once. No calls for help can be made, and no takeouts can be made until we’ve finished step 1 because we can’t alert them to our presence.

Then, we free all the women from their physical and cerebral constraints and lead them to freedom outside where we can schedule a pick up.

Launch an **** on the casino owner who’s behind this horrible operation.

“All done!” Abbott exclaims before receiving shushes from 6 people.

“Sorry!” She says softer this time. “I think we’ve rewired the helmet. Now it should light up the same and look identical, but it shouldn’t actually impact the mental capacity of the user.”

“Alright then,” your captain says, signaling the end of your huddle, “time to draw straws. I will get six toothpicks in my pocket. 5 of them will be green. If you draw the green one, you are safe. You will not be going undercover. One of them will be red. If you draw the red toothpick, you will be required to go undercover as a Hucow and be our eyes and ears down there. Understood?” She asks.

You all silently nod your head.

“Alright, Abbott and Gonzalez, I’ll let you go first because of the work you put in on the helmet. The rest of you line up.”

The captain quickly pulls 6 toothpicks from her pocket, but you didn’t see which was the red. Damn it. She holds her hand out to Abbott. Abbott closes her eyes, places her fingers around a toothpick, and quickly yanks it up. She opens her eyes and exhales greatly when she sees the forest green tip and the bottom.

“Gonzalez.” The captain says, telling Gonzalez to draw one. Gonzalez looks her in the eyes with a steadfast gaze and pulls a toothpick from her hand without breaking eye contact except for the second it takes her to register the green toothpick. She nods her head but doesn’t express any relief at her result.

Your captain walks up to you and holds out her hand.

“Take one, Spencer.” She says coldly.

You look at your options. There’s a 75% chance that you come out of this with a green toothpick. They all look identical. You can’t ascertain any uniquities in any of them. The captain coughs, indicating that you better pick one soon. You quickly grab one and pull it up. You look and the tip is painted…

What color did you get?
