Chapter 38 by GenocideHeart

What happens next?

Off to find Ceinwyn

Closing the door to Dasille's study as you leave, you wind your way up and down the corridors to walk behind Tri'lanna, following her stomping and her grumbling.

"...damn, scheming demon of a sister..." You hear amongst the muttered words. "...maybe she should be a goblin **** for a few days...."

"Tri'lanna." You say, trying to get a word in edgewise.

More muttering. You don't think she even knows you're there. With the way her boots are thumping along the floor, you begin to worry that she'll begin to wake the entire wing of this mansion.

"Tri'lanna." A little more firmly this time.

"What?!"

"Calm down. I know you're mad about your sister, and with the way she led you by the nose into that trap I don't blame you. But you need to control your emotions when she calls you naive.

The Elfmaid face twists in confusion, and then anger. Her face turns a shade darker, as if she didn't even realize what you pointed out. "It is not that, Hans. She can call me whatever she wants. It's not something new and I can bear it."

"It's the way she treats people...how she treats Ceinwyn...that infuriates me. How dare she say those things? Ceinwyn's my friend! YOU are my friend! My goodness, Hans, I...-!" She clamps her mouth shut, cutting off whatever she was about to say.

Tri'lanna shakes her head in disgust, silvery hair waving about. "You don't understand. Dasille thinks that not being a noble is like not being a rational, thinking being. To her, if you're not an Elf and nobility, you may as well be offal."

You watch as she slows down her pace and sighs to herself. Turning to you, she says, "She gets it from our mother, after all...."

Staring down at her, with her lavender eyes looking into yours, this makes you curious about something. If Lady Morianara is as bigoted as she says she is, how is it that Tri'lanna managed to escape the same fate as her sisters? You ask her about this.

"I...admit, I wasn't always this way." Tri'lanna says hesitantly, "I've done things...questionable things, in the past. But meeting you and being a **** myself has given me a unique perspective on the Elven society as a whole."

You wanted to ask what kinds of things she did and how her perspective has changed, but Tri'lanna is not looking at you anymore though. She's staring at a strong oaken door, slightly ajar. A glance inside the room inside looks like it is filled with volumes and volumes of information and recordings. You can only assume that this is the study that you and Tri'lanna are looking for.

"I thought your sister said that the study was locked?" You say suspiciously. Could it be that Dasille was trying to deceive you?

Coming to the same conclusion, Tri'lanna immediately counters it, "No. Dasille was telling the truth. Or what she thought was the truth. She would never lie so straightforwardly. Whatever this is, it's not something that anyone knew about. Be ready, Hans."

Who is inside the study?
