Chapter 39 by The Smutsketeer The Smutsketeer

What's next?

Things get even better

"Wow, I wish I'd known that" Alison said. "It might have helped to snap him out of his reveries."

"Sometimes it does" Carmen said. What followed was them talking about you as if you weren't even there. About how your mind went places and it took some time to coax you back into the here and now. About how close you were to Dawn. About how good a boyfriend you were.

"Hey, John?" Alison asked.

"Yeah?"

"Would you have married me if I'd stayed? Or if I'd come back?" she wanted to know.

"Probably" you admitted, nodding.

"Alison? Are you okay?" Carmen asked.

"I know this is going to sound horribly selfish talking to my ex and his fiancé, but I fucked up, didn't I?" the blonde said. She then burst out in tears, head in her hands. "It should have been me with him" she cried.

"Oh, come here you" Carmen said, putting her arms around her friend. You sat there a little awkwardly, not sure what to think. You were engaged to Carmen, but your ex-girlfriend was crying over losing you.

"I'm sorry" Alison said, sniffling as she wiped her eyes with the back of her hands. "It's in really poor taste."

"It's alright" Carmen said, patting her on the back. "We're drunk. That gives you some leeway." You nodded and took one of Alison's hands.

"It's okay, Ally. Just because we aren't together any more doesn't mean I don't love you" you said.

"What?" Carmen and Alison said as one.

"I'm sorry, Carmen" you said, "but it's true. I've never really stopped loving Alison. She was my best friend for years."

"I understand completely" Carmen said. She was smiling.

"You do?" you asked, not realising until then how much you'd dreaded this coming out.

"Of course I do" Carmen answered. "She was your girlfriend for years. Your best friend too, like you said. You can't just turn that off like that" she said, snapping her fingers for effect.

"Wait.." you said, something occurring to you. "If you know so much about her and me, how come I hardly ever saw you when we went out?"

"Oh, that's actually pretty easy to answer. We were roomies for a year" Carmen said.

"Huh, really?" you asked.

"Yeah. So we only met after she moved" Carmen explained. To this, Alison nodded.

"Exactly" she said, looking better now that she'd wiped her eyes. She had her wineglass in hand and took a sip.

"Huh" you said again before shrugging. "Just curious, is all."

"When are you not curious?" Carmen said.

"Only never" Alison added.

"Oh, great. Now they're teaming up against me" you said. This seemed to spark something in Carmen, who leaned in to whisper with Alison. They looked at you and grinned before getting up and walking off to the bedroom. "What's this all about?" you called.

"Girl stuff. You just entertain yourself for a while" Carmen said.

"Yeah, just sink into thought. You spend hours there anyway" Alison added. You rolled your eyes and turned on the TV while sipping from your rum. Women...

It was half an hour later that the girls came back. Past and future, together in the present. Smiling at you, Carmen sat down next to you, taking your hand.

"Hi, hubby" she said.

"Not quite there yet" you replied, "but hello." Alison sat down on the other side of you and put her head on your shoulder.

"Aren't you going to ask what we talked about?" she asked.

"I figure it's girl stuff" you said, shrugging. This made Alison giggle as her head was pushed up along with your shoulders.

"Well, it sort of is" Carmen agreed, "but not just that. You see, it also features you."

"Me?" you asked, confused.

"Well, yes" Alison said, taking your other hand. "See, I know this must be awkward for you two. There's a lot of sexual tension here, between you and me." You started to deny it but then realised you couldn't. There was a lot of sexual tension. You knew for a fact that, if you hadn't been **** to break up due to her moving away, you would still have been with her. The sex with her had been great, too. So...Then it hit you.

"Okay..." you said, playing along, wondering if it was indeed what you were thinking.

"Well, the way we figure it, there's two ways we can go about it. Well, three if we convert" Alison said.

"Convert to what?" you asked, now actually confused. It must have been all the rum.

"Mormonism. They can have multiple wives" Carmen said with a grin.

"Uh..." you said. Genius level conversational skills, there.

"So that leaves us with two real options. Either I leave, which I don't really want to" Alison said.

"Or" Carmen helpfully added.

"Or" Alison continued, "we do something to sate that sexual tension."

You perked up, something that both girls noticed, seeing how they started giggling.

"You're saying I should have sex with Alison?" you asked Carmen.

"No, I'm saying WE should have sex with Alison" your fiancé replied.
