Creation and the Elementals

In the beginning of the history of the Void there was only Chaos, a mass of seething wild energy that, eventually, gave rise to a stable plane of existence in which was born the elemental deity of Aether, which represented the ordered energies of the universe. Along with Aether was created it's brother Nyx, deity of darkness that blankets the infinity of the Void. Aether was dissatisfied with this order of things so it created Hemera, deity of light, to dispel Nyx's darkness, which started the eternal cycle of Night and Day as they competed against each other but were forever more evenly matched. Seeing the infinite emptiness of the world Aether endeavored to fill it and so began the process of creating the four deities of air, fire, water and earth. Vayu, deity of air was first to be created but it's wind was without substance and left the Void as empty as ever. Tejas, deity of fire was next to be born after it's brother Vayu and it gifted the Void with heat to dispel the cold but it's gifts were as intangible as it's brother. Next was Jal, deity of water, it promised Aether that it would create a tangible substance but that it first needed a place to put it, so Aether created Prithvi, deity of earth who created the islands scattering them throughout the void so Jal could contain it's waters.

Aether, feeling joyous soon grew dissatisfied once again with it's children's creations and so created another deity, Yang, who would be responsible for the creation and continuance of life on the islands of the Void. Yang created many plants animals and other creatures and scattered them amongst the infinite lands of the Elementals universe, but there was a problem. The creatures Yang created were a beautiful addition to the Void full of activity and life but it soon became apparent that life was fleeting for these creatures and Yang explained to Aether that when it created Yang it also created another, called Yin who remained hidden from the other Elementals because their lives were unending and opposed Yang taking life when it was expended and returning to the fabric of the Void which the Deities drew upon to create all they had. This process however was required for the continuance of the Void or all the energies within that universe would be expended as a mass of unending lives built up eventually returning all to the Chaos from which it was born.
