Chapter 10 by wit1
What does Cindy say?
Hide and Seek
“Hide and seek.” Cindy started. You gave her a puzzled look. “You’ve played hide and seek before.” Cindy grabbed the flask from you and took a drink.
“Not since I was ten.” you told her. You took the flask.
“It hasn’t changed…” she said with a shrug, “However, instead of one seeking for everyone else who is hiding, one person goes and hides while everyone else looks for them. Whoever finds the person wins.”
“Doesn’t sound like whoever is it has a chance to win.” you observed.
“We could say that if whoever is hiding can avoid being found for an hour, they win.” Larry suggested. Anne insisted that it be an hour and a half. Both you and Cindy shrugged.
“And just what is the prize for winning?” you asked.
“Anne owed me for this evening,” Cindy mused, “Larry bet me double or nothing. So now they both owe me two days. What do you say that all the losers must do whatever winner says for the rest of the week?”
“What about finals?” Anne asked.
“The winner will allow anyone who asks to be excused for exams or studying to go, but they will have to pay double during registration week.” Cindy offered. Cindy looked at you expectantly.
Do you agree?
