Do the three students make the kind of impression you were hoping for?
Pretty much
The girls look at each other, as though silently deciding who should speak. After a few moments Miss Duncan nods and steps forward slightly, she was as you suspected the leader of the three cheerleaders.
"Me and Bethany and Brianna did something stupid." You meet her quick glance in your direction with a stony stare, there is no point in trying to look like a nice guy, not after what you just did with Miss Childers. "We were drinking and we went to cheer practice...and kinda made fools of ourselves."
"And disrupted practice," Miss Lloyd chimes in softly, you're not sure that the girls in the back tables heard her, but it doesn't really matter. If anything you see the cheerleaders classmates leaning forward eager to hear what is said.
"Right," Katrina takes a deep breath that only adds to the drama before continuing. "And, well we had to see Dean Hawkfeather this morning, and um...well he...he..."
"He enforced the penalty for being drunk," Brianna finishes for her friend, this time clearly enough that everyone can hear. "Exactly like it says in the Code of Conduct." Behind them Miss Adamson's cheeks are beet red, she hasn't said a word the entire time, but her obvious embarrassment speaks as loudly as her friends testimonial.
There is a murmur in the room as the other students whisper to each other. You hear some mutters from teachers as well, some clearly approvingly like Monica Fulton, while others like Alice and Miss Swanson clearly disapproving. Brianna rubs her ass with one hand and grimaces as she recalls the painful experience as she looks at you hoping to end their part of the presentation.
"Dean Hawkfeather means everything he says." You nod at the three dismissing them, it might have been a little light on details, but you have no doubt that the students watching got the message.
"Thank you ladies, you may take your seats," You tell the three sending them back to their chairs, "I trust this makes it clear what the disciplinary policies of the Pink Rose are." The stunned silence is as good an answer as any you could hope for. "I advise you to familiarize yourselves with the Code of Conduct and the schedule of penalties listed in it." You nod to Dianna and return to your seat.
"Ladies, you have heard the policy. Copies of the Code of Conduct are here and you can pick one up on your way out." For no rational reason you feel a rush of warmth when you hear Diana back you up like that, as you look around the room you miss a little of what she is saying. "...feather's statements. Familiarize yourself with the rules, and govern yourselves accordingly." She stares at the assembled group of students daring them to challenge her, and after letting the silence build she clears her throat and softens her tone as she turns to less charged topics.
As Diana reminds the students about the upcoming dance with Hamilton, the student auction that Miss Considine is so riled up about, the students slowly relax. There is some giggling at the mention of the social, and even more when she reminds students who want to participate in the auction that they must submit their skill-sheet and pictures by the end of the week.
The meeting ends with a few details about an upcoming parent open house and a few other administrative details. At their dismissal though, it is clear that the students have two things on their minds - dress code and paddling. As they file out of the library you see a good number of students studying you carefully, clearly trying to gage how much of a change you are really going to bring to the Pink Rose.
