You decide that you look normal enough that you can pass it off as if nothing has happened. "To be honest, I don't know why my mother called you either. I'm sure she was worried about me for some reason, but I'm fine. I am glad you're here, though," you say.
Emily looks at you with a strange look and you're not sure whether or not she believes you. "If you say so, Parker, but your mother sure sounded awfully anxious about you when she called me," she replies.
"Yeah, she can be a little hyper-sensitive. She probably just thought I was lonely and missing you is all," you say.
She looks at you dubiously, but lets it slide. "Well," she says, "do you want to show me around the house? It looks stunning."
You consider this. On the one hand, it would seem pretty rude if you didn't, but on the other, you're not sure you want her to meet Belinda or your mother for that matter.
