Practice Practice Practice

You just finished your last class for the evening and unsurprisingly you were exhausted but thank god it was Friday. As you trudged to the dining hall you were stopped by a pretty blonde haired girl.

“I didn’t know they let mutts wander the building this late at night!”

You walked past her ignoring her completely to her dismay and your displeasure she followed you to the dining hall.

“Excuse me but do you know who I am?? I am not normal filth like you that can be ignored!! Hey I am talking to you!”

She placed a hand on your shoulder only for her to flinch and immediately let go causing you to turn and address her.

“Listen here blonde I have just as much right to be here as you do so what if my family is stained or cursed I don’t give two shits and if you think I give a shit about whatever your rambling on about listen closely I DON’T CARE and with that you realized you had lost your appetite and decided to head to the library as you wanted to get away from her and while you hadn’t been there before hopefully you would be left alone.”

Entering the giant library books floated and moved through the various parts of the library. Looking around you headed towards the elements section. Lately you had been trying to impress the twin professors but honestly you felt like you were disappointing them with you connection to the void so maybe some practice would help you. Entering the grand elements section you found four giant pillars one with symbol of fire another with the symbol for water next was the symbol for earth and finally one for air looking around you didn’t know what you were looking for but decided to wander and see what you could find.

After a few minutes you noticed a dark section of the elemental collection and lo and behold a cracked broken stone pillar with a small swirl on it and beside it another pillar with a thunder bolt on it. Looking around you saw two old books sitting on pedestals behind the pillars.

Curious you approached the book behind the swirl and picked it up taking it to a table before sitting down and opening it carefully. The first pages were blank before you licked you finger to help turn a page and then purple text began filling the once empty pages before the book was completed filled unlike before.

Soon you found the first chapter which read “Chapter One the Art of the Void”

Soon you found yourself lost in the purple text and then before you long it was 1 in the morning. Closing the large book you checked it out of the library thankfully the librarian was a ghost so you didn’t have worry about not checking out books because they were staff. As you headed back to the dorm you felt a sort of connection to this book something simply possessed you to keep reading it took all your willpower to not stop reading it and head to bed lest you fall asleep in class that evening.
