What's next?
Planning. Phase one.
In her tent, Arerto had summoned her four generals and they all stood around looking down at the map of Freeconia and a smaller city plan of Talia. "Okay here is my plan for the battle ahead. General Freya your first division mission will be to capture the bridge over the last natural defence the river Juno and push out and take the lands as far as the village of Kha. General Jasmine, you will cross behind General Freya with your second division and parallel the river to bring you insight of the main city gates. General Killiane your third division will have the task of relieving Admiral Katherine's marine warriors who should the harbour by the time you get there. As your target is on the coast you will cross the Juno here at its shallowest point and this time of year it should only be shoulder high. General Cassandra your division will provide cover for the other divisions should they run into trouble. Now any questions?"
General Freya went first " My task will be to take the bridge can I suggest that General Cassandra's division move up behind me first so she can take over command of the Bridge and surrounding area? This would free up my division to quickly get to the crossroads at Kha until we begin phase two" Arerto looked at both Freya and Cassandra and agreed that it was a good idea "General Freya when you have taken the crossroads I want you to dig in and wait for further orders." General Cassandra stood and suggested that her division once the bridge was secure and properly defended she could take the rest of her warriors to secure General Freya@s northern flank. Arerto said this was also a good idea and agreed smiling that her generals were thinking ahead to further battles. Jasmine and Killiane had their questions which were answered and they left and returned to their divisions and relayed the orders.
Katherine in her cabin was handing out targets to the captains once they got into the harbour then told them it would be a night attack to give them the best chance. Once the harbour had been secured the transports would come in and General Clarion would take his five hundred troops into the city and onwards to the palace. Sounded like a simple plan but all commanders know that even the best plans can go wrong or unexpected circumstances could occur. Katherine knew that Arerto's army would be starting their march now so in two days she would be setting sail along with her small fleet to commence her part of the plan. She was missing Arerto not just because of their games but because her presence made Katherine feel more confident and much stronger. She sat at the table going over the plan once more as the captains returned to their ships to make sure they had provisions for a four-day voyage.
The army had formed up into its divisions and for ease of travel, they were marching in line ahead meaning the column was four ranks across and stretched for almost a mile. Upfront with Arerto were her generals all resplendent in their red and gold tunics and their helmets with the plumes of white and red dyed feathers. Arerto was once again wearing her gold tunic with her royal crest on the back and helmet which had the white plume fixed to it. She knew that now they had started a chain of events had been started and Katherine would be setting sail in two days to hopefully arrive at the same time as her divisions. She knew Katherine and knew only **** would prevent her from carrying out the task given to her but Arerto hoped that she would keep her head down. As the army marched they started to sing army songs which Arerto knew motivated them to travel further between rest stops. Soon she would have her throne back but it would mean that her sister Chasin would be dead.
