Plan or act?

You notice a thick branch laying in the water. You pick it up. It's thick enough and long enough to serve as a bridge. Genius.
You toss your makeshift bridge between two islands. You cross it safely.
You do it again. You notice that your branch is kinda creaky and moldy. Uh-oh.
Also, the leeches are gathering and following you. Running straight through the water without messing around would be faster.
You use your bridge once more and it makes a truly terrible noise.
You gasp and look ahead. You only have three more islands to cross, but the leeches are swarming. Running ahead would undo your master plan. On the other hand, your bridge might give way. Seems like there's no way to avoid the leeches.

You are an individual of a poor house who is exploring the revolting swamp where the kingdom dumps all its waste and anything else disgusting. They call it he CessPonds. Somewhere within lies the treasure of a careless nobleman who' chest of gold and jewels was mistakenly lost, but many nasty and strange things call this place home. Any number of them could quickly end your quest. Can you make it through the swamp and retrieve the riches or become another victim of the CessPond's inhabitants? That's up to you.
