Phase Out of the Ropes

If Kitty Pryde can phase through the walls, why can’t you phase through the ropes?

“Catch you later, friends,” you say, beginning to phase out.

Scarlet Witch, however, is faster on the draw, and summons more ropes around you, these ones bearing different runes. They instantly flare, and you find yourself **** back into your physical form, trapped behind the ropes again.

“You’re not going anywhere until we bring you to justice,” Scarlet Witch says. “So don’t you dare run away, coward.”

If a physical **** won’t work, maybe a mental one will? You begin to launch a mental probe at Wanda, hoping to penetrate her mind and **** her to dispel the ropes, but just then, the blasting rays that she and Vision have continued to fire punch through your forcefield and strike your chest.

You scream in pain, concentration broken and probe forgotten, and it’s all you can do to stay conscious as your body frantically works to regenerate the damage done. As the seconds wear on, you feel your strength being sapped, and you know that you’re not going to be able to hold out for much longer.

“Stop!” you cry out. “I’m dying!”

Vision halts his attack immediately, a look of concern briefly crossing his face, but Scarlet Witch is relentless, increasing the power of her hex beam. A look of raw anger is stretched across her face, and you can feel the intensity of her feeling as your the beam shreds through another layer of muscle and bone, your chest practically hollow at this point.

“What are you doing?” Vision says, grabbing her by the shoulder. “You’ll kill him! We want him restrained, not dead.”

“I’ll do anything!” you plead, “Just stop it! Please! Anything!”

That seems to get through to her, and she drops the beam.

“You’ll do anything? Swear on it,” she says, voice cold.

“I swear! I’ll do anything you want me to,” you say, as your body slowly begins to knit itself back together.

“We’re going to wait for the telepaths to get here and **** you to comply before I so much as remove a rope,” she says.

You nod dumbly, relieved that the pain has finally stopped.
