You visit his castle and even yous your magic to take on a humanoid form to show weakness to the king as apposed to reminding him of your superior strength that your true dragon form would.

You find out that the King was intimidated by your power and popularity. The other kingdoms mocked him for letting a dragon run loose in his kingdom and not for slaying you when he claimed the princess. He told you that because of your popularity there would be outrage if he removed you from your lordship over Candlestome. The other kingdoms had put pressure on him though restricting trade until he did something to comply with their traditions and values. Together you planned new solutions to the political chess game David was now stuck in. You would convince Alisa to move back to his castle leaving your son and her daughter in your care and the care of a maid. However, she would be allowed to frequently visit and would also get to raise their son together. You would except a human aid for your Lordly duties, appointed by the king and instructed to be loyal to you but to be the public face. You would say that this would be to allow you to focus on raising your son and guarding the princess. In reality, it was to please the neighbouring kingdoms. In return, the king would reduce the high tax on candles and lift the bounty on dragons.

You returned to your castle happy and with your friendship with the king repaired. It took a bit more time to convince the Queen to move back with David, but the promise of raising her son won her over.
