Chapter 5 by bruinonfire bruinonfire

Kate's SHOWERING dude. What do you do?

Patience, grasshopper.

Half an hour later, and you've washed, beaten, rinsed, and hung the last of the clothes, including what you were wearing. Clad in nothing more than a pair of boxers, and relatively certain that the sunny branches you hung the clothes upon will dry the garments within a couple of hours, you make your way down to the waterfall. Kate seems in her own world, sitting on a rock holding--

"I borrowed your razor," she says, finally noticing you as she finishes her legs. Your mind wanders--curious as to what else those razor blades have touched.

"It's yours," you say, rubbing your chin. "I'm keeping the beard."

"Yeah?" she asks.

You nod, sliding into the water--cool against your skin--just beside her. "I don't have enough blades to shave every day. And after a week, the beard doesn't itch anymore..." You smile. "Plus, it's essential if I'm going to make my tropical island castaway look work."

Kate laughs, dipping her leg into the water, rinsing off the last of the soap. Content, she slips into the water beside you just as you start shampooing your hair.

"It looks good on you," she says as she leans back, treading water. The waterfall is rather quiet, a small stream rather than a roaring rapid, allowing you to hear each other with ease.

You simply nod again.

Your shower is brisk, refreshing--by far the best you've ever had. Kate simply enjoys the quiet babble of the waterfall, the stream, as she floats on her back.

"How long before our clothes are dry?" she asks.

"Another couple of hours..." you say, washing the last of the soap off your body.

"A couple of hours, huh?" she says.

Time to kill...
