“What’s up?”

“Marcie’s game of politics is starting to get really intriguing. Although I am confused at why she wants to take over the school.”

“You don’t enjoy power, Vic?”

“Well...no, not really. Not in general sense. I like the feeling I get from helping people and showing off knowledge but...hm.”

“What about the feeling of power from, say, making your crush strip in public?”

“Well, ah, that’s...that’s not the same, I don’t think.”

“Marcie’s been a victim all her life. I think she’s getting drunk on it.”

“Yeah, I guess so. Well, let’s start the review proper. In this section, we meet Cutie. He was bullied by Gina and Marcie rescues him.”

“And makes Gina sick his dick.”

“And makes Gina suck his dick, yes. Got any comment on that, Sam?”

“Hot. Not usually my thing, but hot.”

“Are all boys this predictable? You all get turned on by the same things.”

“...I’m declining to respond on the basis of having no idea which comeback to choose.”

“Whatever. So Gina gets out of a bad spot by begging another queen of the school for help.”

“What the hell is up with this school? Do people go to class? In my school we learned about the warring states period, in Noname, they live it.”

“Not to mention that name.”

“What’s wrong with Noh Nah May?”

“Do you just alternate between genius and moron? I swear, half the time we’re talking and I’m like ‘wow, how insightful’ and then two minutes later you don’t notice something is called ‘No Name High.’”

“Oh.”

“Yeah, ‘Oh.’ Also Susan beats up Gina, pees on her, and gets kicked to the curb by Marcie.”

“Lot of pee in this section.”

“Yes, this is the duality of Hard Candy, my friend. On the one hand, sexy humiliation, brilliant character writing, plot twists and turns, political games with genuine tension, and great relationship dynamics. On the other hand, shitting and pissing and probably worse to come.”

“Nose picking, too.”

“Yep.”

“Can I just say I was grinning like an idiot when Gina turned it all back on Marcie like that? That was genius.”

“It was amusing. But hey, you probably relate more to Gina, being a victim and all.”

“Yeah, I...wait, what the hell do you mean by that?!”

“I’m just saying. Plaything to plaything, you two would get along great.”

“...So does the queen of diamonds know you blackmailed me into teaching that class?”

“...no...”

“Then maybe you should mind your tongue.”

“Fine. Sorry.”

“...”

*sigh* “Anyway. In place of Susan we now have Lindsey.”

“Susan 2.0.”

“Maybe. I don’t see the point in swapping out one vicious sidekick for another.”

“Yeah. Oh hey, we forgot to talk about the biggest thing.”

“What?”

“The breathing order.”

“Ohhhh yeah. That was messed up.”

“I legit felt sick to my stomach over that. I mean, holy shit.”

“It seems like it could be a really freaky Chekhov’s gun. I bet Lindsey is going to try to make Marcie forget about giving permission.”

“Vic. Is this going to be one of those stories?”

“I...I hope not.”
