Parents are going away

“Hey, Beth,” Carol said as she sat down with her daughter. “Your dad and I are going away for a few months.”

“Oh?” Beth said. “Alright.”

“But… we want to make sure someone is watching you just in case something happens,” Carol said.

Beth raised an eyebrow. “Mom, I haven’t done anything in… 2 years. I’ll be fine.”

“Maybe so,” Carol said. “But that doesn’t change my concerns. So I asked someone else to be in charge and to check in on you.”

“Who?” Beth asked.
