One of many, part 2: Uggozan's request

Blair had always enjoyed being different while growing up. She wasn't a girly girl nor a tomboy, but somewhere in between. Although it was fraught with teasing from both guys and girls, it had been a pleasant childhood for her. Aside from her father, it was even quite fun and it mentally prepared her for life. She was faced with yet another situation in which she wouldn't go with what people would normally consider. Not that her choices up to this point were really normal. Despite this being about power and improving herself. It just so happened that the allies she planned to pick would be more helpful than she would have imagined.

Blair looked to Izohra and said. "Hmm, it looks like the insectoids need a hand." His eyes widened as he looked to her and said. "Yeah, I... Wait? The insectoids? We're not going to help the ratfolk?" She shook her head and said. "The insectoids have something I want. Trust me, helping them is the only way to get it." He looked to the insectoids then back to her and said. "I don't know what you mean, but okay. It isn't like they are alive anyway. Just so you know, they give me the creeps."

Blair shook her head with a playful smirk as she said. "Well, have faith in me. This is the right thing to do here." Caesar barked before rushing in to attack one of the ratfolk, tripping it, causing it to be quickly slaughtered by the insectoid nearby, followed by a series of clicks. 9 + 10% = 10 (9.9) xp Although its movements were strange, the insectoid seemed grateful and let them through. At that moment, all of the ratfolks fear started to rise, starting at 5 and their nature changed from neutral to hostile whereas the insectoids became friendly. However, Uggozan's score ticked up to 15 whereas Scrik's score dropped to -15. Blair used Observe on one of the ratfolk to get an idea of what they were up against.

As Blair read that, she felt a little better about doing this. Fighting and killing for her survival was one thing, but she knew nothing about these two factions. On the plus side, she was putting them out of their misery, even if what Izohra had just told her was true. If she had to guess, she would have gone with them being alive. Are they like the illusion barrier and simply not apart of normal reality? Or was there more to it? Hmm, given the information Observe had given her about these other ratfolk, Izohra's statement certainly had merit. However, Uggozan and Scrik were clearly something different. Were they perhaps alive? This definitely required further investigation.

Blair thought for a moment before casting Nature's Will in the hopes that she would get a powerful ally to be able to wipe out these ratfolk without getting her hands dirty. - 50 Mp This time she was more fortunate as a vortex of air appeared beside her. Its body was in the shape of a tornado, it had two blue balls of lightning for eyes, but no mouth or limbs to speak of. Upon its arrival, a voice entered her mind. 'I am here to serve, mistress. What is your command?' She looked to the living tornado and said. "Do what you can to eliminate fifteen of these ratfolk. I wish them to be out of my sight, but do not harm the insectoids."

The living tornado looked to the ratfolk as the voice entered Blair's mind once again. 'It will be done.' Its body folded in on itself until its body was a dense spinning disk of air. Shortly after condensing itself, it flew quickly off in the ratfolk's direction. Although some of them tried to defend themselves from the living tornado's onslaught, its speed and accuracy were simply too much, resulting in their heads being sliced from their bodies. 15 + 10% = 17 (16.5), 17 x 15 = 255 xp However, in doing so, the once low level of fear within the ratfolk skyrocketed to 70. This resulted in 9 of the many fleeing ratfolk to have a heart attack, ending their lives. 17 x 9 = 153 xp

Izohra brought a hand to his mouth and turned away while saying. "Ugh, that was so messy." Caesar on the other hand, barked happily. His tail wagged as his level increased from 3 to 5. At the moment his level increased to 5, his body began to rapidly change as he grew from being a small dog to a full grown pharaoh hound. Blair was surprised by Caesar's change and decided to use Observe on him to see how much he had changed. At the same time, her quest turned itself in, followed by a new quest popping up. After one minute of being summoned, the living tornado vanished from sight.

Fear Drinker has increased from rank 1 to 2 - All fear caps have been increased by 5 - Amount of health and mana restored by consuming 5 points of fear has increased from 1% to 1.25%.

Accept or Decline?

Blair smiled as she read all of that and mentally hit, 'Accept.' While she did this, Izohra spoke. "Whoa, is that you, Caesar? You certainly got big. Um, Blair, I think this insectoid wants us to follow it." Caesar let out a proper bark before turning around once. She looked to the insectoid and said. "Lead the way." The insectoid turned around and started to walk in the direction of the hill, Uggozan had been standing on previously. Upon reaching the top of the hill, they noticed a large opening within the other side of it. The insectoid went inside, gesturing for them to continue following it. However, Izohra spoke out in protest. "I, I don't like this, Blair."

Blair looked to Izohra and said. "We'll be fine. I am certain they know the risks of trying to attack us. Don't worry, I'll keep us safe." He let out a sigh, but didn't protest anymore. They continued to follow the insectoid within the tunnel. Although it was dim, there was some light provided by the insectoid's body, illuminating their path. After a minute of walking, their path split into three directions, left, middle, and right. Their guide turned to walk down the right path. After another minute, they found themselves within a brightly lit chamber.

There were four green insectoids with bladed arms, standing guard at the four corners of the room. Uggozan was sitting upon a throne of sorts nearby, eating some fruit. Blair used this opportunity to use Observe on one of the guards before turning her full attention to their queen, Uggozan.

Uggozan remained seated as her attention turned to them. Blair was surprised she hadn't noticed that Uggozan's face reminded her of a wasp's. However, what truly surprised her was when Uggozan began to speak. "'Click' Greetings~s. We-e are Uggozan. We-e t-hank you for your help in, 'click' culling the rats~s. We-e wish to know your names~s." Blair nodded with a smile and said. "Greetings. I am, Blair." She pointed to Izohra as she continued to speak then to Caesar. "This is, Izohra and this little guy is Caesar."

Uggozan's head didn't move, but it was obvious that her attention was drawn away from Blair temporarily as Blair gestured to her companions. She tilted her head slightly before speaking. "A pleasure to meet you all. However, we-e would like to make a request of you. We-e will happily compensate you for your aid." Blair tilted her head slightly before nodding. Uggozan let out a couple of clicks before speaking. "You have seen, the rats~s leader, yes~s? Scrik, needs~s to be-e eliminated and our underling, Zryzor needs~s to be-e rescued. He-e is special to us~s. Will you do this~s for us~s?" When this question was asked, the following quest popped up while her previous quest turned itself in.

Blair tilted her head slightly while she mentally hit, 'Accept.' but said. "All right, but before I go. I would like to know what it is you are offering me to do this." This was an interesting statement. Just what was Uggozan offering Blair? Food, power, aid, or something more precious? Blair was certainly curious about what Uggozan's answer would be.
