Fay lies in a narrow bed, curative charms depending from the headboard. A potion bottle and dosing spoon sit upon a bedside tray. She's awake but looking a little pale. Her short blonde hair fringes about her moon-round face, and her pale eyes blink at the two of you.

"Morgan?" Fay says, looking to her roommate. "It was all a whirl. I don't know what happened, Miss Wormwood said I was stung by the imp. Whiptail will be in a lather, I'm sure. And who's this tall ginger bint..." Her eyes focus. "Lolo!" she says. "I remember." Her full lips part in a broad smile. "Kiss me, both of you!"

Morgan is first.

Fay laughs as Morgan rises. "Bitch has been biting on you again, Morgan," she says. "I smell her venom on your breath. Good thing she doesn't like my taste. I can barely get her to bite my ass for an inoculation. Don't look that way, dearie. You know what I think. Pinkies." Fay raises her left hand. Morgan brings hers up. Their little fingers, with matching nail decorations, press tip to tip. They laugh together.

"I was worried," Morgan said.

"Kiss," Fay tells you.

You lean over to kiss her. Soft, full lips, a little dry. Soft tongue on your lips.

"Ahh, that is you," Fay says. "I hoped I hadn't dreamed it."

"No," you say. Your heart thumps. You gave your first to these two. You hope they won't noise any of your secrets about.

"Now, you be a good girl at Leontes," Fay says, "And maybe next year we'll see you in Minerval."

"I think we'll lose her to a grand romance," Morgan says. "Isn't that Leontes' way?"

You shake your head, protesting. "No, no. No romances."

"Ah, ha ha ha," Fay says. "I think you're right, Morgan. The baby doth protest too much." Fay grins at you. "You have a lot to learn, first-year."

"Learn?" you say.

"Yes," Fay says. "I seem to recall we were rather rudely interrupted. Would you like to continue our lessons?"

Your heart beats fast. "Yes," you say.

"Miss Wormwood said I could leave," Fay says. "I know just the place. Golondrina, get my bag. Morgan, lead on."

Fay wraps your free hand in hers and you follow Morgan out of the Infirmary.
