Offer your help

“Excuse me please,” you interrupt the owner of the ice cream parlor and Cindy, “I couldn’t help but listen to your discussion. Is there anything I can help you with?”

“I’m sorry, Miss,” Cindy apologizes, “thanks for the offer but I don’t think you can help here.”

“Maybe she can,” the owner of the ice cream parlor mumbles, “if it’s just for an hour, she could do your job. Then you could go to your professor and take care of your project.”

“What project are you talking about?” you ask confused.

“I’m studying medicine in the local university,” Cindy answers, “and if I want to pass class in a few weeks I have to present a project. It is ready by now and waits in the uni for being judged. But a few minutes ago my professor called me and asked me to come to the uni because of my project. I don’t know why, but I assume there is a problem. He sounded serious. And I can’t leave here because I need this job. I have no other income.”

“Normally this wouldn’t be a problem,” the owner of the ice cream parlor answers, “But I can’t work here alone and my only other waitress is a lazy bitch who hasn’t been here in about a week. So, if you could jump in for Cindy, she could run to her professor and take care of everything. It’s just an hour, I pay you of course and you can keep all tips you get.”
