Chapter 3

What do you do with her?
Nothing, Your Waifu is fine! ...Okay, her history needs altering.
Honestly you wanted to see if you can alter her history. Elara, Elven Archer. Also known as the third most popular character of this game because of her design, voice lines and interaction with the main character and side characters were just so great and overall combat potential if you got the right type of equipment for her.
The problem is that honestly, that she really lacked any story significance beyond her small character quest line. Hell she just joins you as an extra unit you can recruit in the second town if you are high enough level when you meet her and finish a quest she gives.
The community really went all out and brought to life another this character through the modding development, even getting a fan voice actor who slowly became her second voice for fans.
“Hell you can’t even get a unique ending with Elara, anything attempting to add that ended in flames and causing crashes. Then again adding any eddings seemed to do that, and best the fan-games are the only way to actually do that.”
Checking around you finally find a history tab and go to that and are quite confused, it’s a simple bio and then states that she was recruited recently. A quick gaze around makes things clear, you were near the third town before the castle town where the majority of the story starts unfolding. “Still, there’s nothing about a majority of her background, why does she carry around so potent potions, what is even the name of the village she was born in. This is so lackluster.”
“Now then time to alter the history of Elara~”
[Elara lived with her parents until the faithful day where they were killed by men with a red line on their necks. She has spent most of her life chasing after clues trying to find about the men that did that, she was surprised of the prowess of Soul and his allies in a hunt in Fourroads and as such asked and was accepted into the group so she could become strong enough to win against the assassins that took her parents life.]
[Daughter of Druid of nature and a huntress who had gotten tired of the political mess their kingdom was, so they set up shop in Havenvale. Elara grew up as a childhood friend of Soul and Valentia, often proclaiming that she’d be Soul’s wife alongside Valentia which started a great rivalry between the two girls. Despite this, Elara knew Soul’s wish to become an adventurer so she learnt from her parents survival skills, archery, druidic magic and alchemy while learning to be a housewife with Valentia at Soul’s house so that she could join him and fulfill her promise to be his wife.
Confused as to why Valentia became cold when interacting with Soul, Elara learned why and immediately thought that her female friend was going about her crush in the wrong way. Despite not being able to convince Valentia with words, Elara instead takes it on herself to treat Soul kindly and show her worry when needed. Upon completing the trials that the trio’s parents had constructed the trio left Havenvale for Fourroads where they met more allies which join them in their journey. Her current biggest failure is the being defeated by the Dark Knight in the Fourroads' Spirit Temple before Soul intervened and used his magical power to cause the knight to retreat.
The group having entered Oakmeadow, split into groups to cover more ground, She is currently on a request with Soul and is glad for the alone time with him.
She is currently irritated with the group for their comments about her healing lacking the strength compared to priests and their insistence on calling Soul “Rookie”.]
Now that’s done with that even though the game seemed to auto-fill after a certain amount of information was given, which in turn could be altered as well. Taking a look at Elara the changes the history gave had caused some changes; she seemed to be a bit stronger looking then before and her bow seemed to have gone from a simple short bow, to something between a shortbow and longbow constructed out what seemed to be living wood, with leaves hanging from the bottom likely to show how to hold it, while runes ran down wood.
Now then on which quest were you on, please not the “Webwalk” quest line, so much spiders you’d need to kill. It wasn’t hard just tedious to find all the specific monsters that dropped the right item, since three of them were rare area mobs.
Quest book, these words caused him to automatically reach for a pouch that he swears wasn’t there before and take out a small journal which he opened, which had a checklist on the front page. Tapping with his thumb on, “Current Quests” he automatically flipped pages to a certain page where he found the quest with a small descriptor for each and the quest giver and their current location listed. While this was normal, the people who were actually taking the quests being in the notes was a small difference. The one that the two of them were doing was a quest he didn’t know, but made sense, “Bandit Problem”.
The problem was that around this time, there was a background event with the princess being kidnapped and getting freed by her bodyguard, enough fan made content was made about it being playable. “But I don’t have one installed, so why is this situation happening.”
After checking where everyone was heading, plus seeing who everyone was, he was happy that everyone that could be recruited was recruited, putting away the questbook in your disappearing bag, you allow time to be unpausing, Elara looked at you with more worry in her gaze, “If you think you’re fine, let’s go.”
“I might have some memory problems though.” this caused Elara to stop from moving forward looking back at Soul with a look of horror, “I remember you and everyone else, just not why we’re going out to do… whatever we’re going to do.”
“Well, the bandits have been getting more brash and attacking the area more.” This was confusing, the only real change he made was how he dealt with the dark knight, “So the locals are sending us because we’re high enough rank to take care of such a situation.”
“And if things get too bad, I can just get a bit more serious and wipe them all out.” responded Soul with a nod before walking towards where he knew should be the bandit stronghold, “I remember feeling that there were quite a few people that way with my magic.”
“Dependable as always.” stated Elara with a smile before scowling a bit before shaking her head and quickly walking by besides you.
“Still irritated about how everyone is treating you and me?”
The elf flinch a bit before nodding, “Am I that transparent?”
Soul wanted to say yes, but oddly enough he could easily notice how she acts and how she really feels through her body language and voice, ‘Seems like history comes into effect with how I act and notice things.’ with that in mind he answered in an honest tone, “We’re childhood friends, of course I’d notice such things. Besides I’m annoyed by their attitude as well.” a sigh came out of Soul’s mouth, “Though at this point I’m excepting it from Valentia, she and Lind probably became a couple when I wasn’t looking.”
Elara didn’t say anything, probably told by Valentia not to tell Soul about her crush and how being antagonistic towards him would result in them coming together. Well joke is on her, since he already has a perfect wife right beside him. He held his hand out and took the hand of said wife to be, which caused her to look down and smile with a blush.
(We are going to meet a Princess, a Bodyguard and bandits, should I add a bandit to the main cast who will go with our hero Soul on adventures?)
How does the quest go?
