Not too quickly

You dive into figuring out the problem. There are some immediate difficulties, but nothing that you can’t solve. The question for you, is do you want to solve them. The Company kidnapped your daughter, they’re obviously completely unethical.

The first order of business for you is to figure out just what the black goo is. You subject it to a number of tests. To your surprise it is unidentifiable. If you didn’t know better, you’d think the stuff was an illusion.

You decide you’ve had enough for one day. Before quitting you try without success to delve deeper into their network. You circle the lab checking for a way escape. Finding none, you settle for dinner.

The next morning you try to identify it using more obscure tests, all to no avail. You try dissolving it and find Curtiss wasn’t lying about it being imiscible in any solvent. Against all warning, you almost want to touch it.

You finish up your day and get your ‘exercise’. You check ventilation or any other way you might escape. You find none.

Over the next week your frustration grows. You miss your daughter terribly. You consider, despite warnings, trying to touch the material. You could also try to demand to see how it’s made.
