No way, you have already picked someone to take you

“We going to make a move Dani?” Lucy asks as she comes up behind the sofa and bends down to you.

The man you have been sitting next to for the past hour or so has been making you laugh and feel good about yourself, so it isn’t much of a decision to make about making a move for home.

“Want to make sure I get home ok?” you lean into his ear to ask. His face breaks into a grin at your offer, and quickly the pair of you are getting to your feet and making your excuses to the rest of the gathering, while Lucy waits by the door for you. There are a good few jokes and jealous looks as he takes your hand and leads you out of the room.

“I’m surprised you are leaving alone Luce” you comment as you make your way through the club to the exit, the place now beginning to empty out as the music has finished and the bars are closing.

“I was tempted, but none of them took my fancy” she gives as way of explanation, “maybe if we get a tasty driver in the cab going home I’ll see if I can lure him to my bed.” The three of you laugh, although after tonight you wonder how much of a joke it actually is, sensing that even luring the cab driver to her bed wouldn’t be the worse thing either of you have done tonight.

Getting outside, the cool air hits you, and you realise just how much you have drunk tonight, your head spinning slightly and a minor earthquake making the pavement move.

Lucy is already striding off down the road, leaving you in her wake, but you soon realise why, as she steps into the road to wave frantically at a cab that is coming towards you. It pulls quickly up beside her and she is soon getting into the front seat, leaving the back for you and your partner.
