No interruptions.

Erica reached the cash registers without any interruptions.

Each of the registers were located in its own kiosk. A wall at waist level surrounded three of the sides, allowing access from only one direction. The cash register sat on a shelf, leaving a space underneath for a secure cash box and some of the wiring for the receipt printer and the indicator that lit up when the register was open.

Erica entered the space and set her purse on the floor in the gap that was under the register. Of course having the purse (or her phone) on the floor was against store rules, but they didn't provide lockers in the break room where the time punch machine was and she wasn't going to leave her things in her car. There were enough horror stories making the rounds among the employees about break-ins that she wasn't going to risk it. As long as the purse was out of sight, it was unlikely she would get in trouble.

Standing back up, Erica checked the till and then turned on the indicator to signal that her cashier stand was open for business.
