I breathed heavily, tears dampening my cheeks. I managed to look up and, despite my embarrassment, make eye contact with my coach.

I was dumbfounded. "Why would I lie?"

"To get out of trouble. You were probably doing a dare or pulling a prank or something, and you cooked up this story to avoid the consequences. Well, you embarrassed yourself out there, you abandoned your team, and you let me down as well. That is not OK."

"I can prove it!" I shouted without thinking. There was a heavy pause. Wait, what? I asked myself. Are you serious?

"Prove it?" he asked. I noticed his eyes looking me up and down, and I wondered how powerful those pheromones Dr. Han mentioned were. Was he attracted to me right now?

"Um.... Yeah, I can prove it," I said, glancing at the clock on the wall. 6:05. Five minutes until showtime...
