Chapter 67 by Ben Rosewood Ben Rosewood

New

The next night, the five found themselves at the Oxford Fairgrounds, where the New Year's Fair was held. In addition to food trucks, market stalls, and carnival games, the event also included fireworks at nine o'clock. Dani never cared much for the event, but she cared about spending her night with her new love and his family.

Their first move was to head to the collection of food trucks competing for their dollars with creative menus and the smell of spices. The five end up splitting up and eating what they want. Once done, the five browsed the strip of market stalls and tried their luck with the carnival games. Whilst Abigail found a few treasures among the stalls, Spencer, Dani, and Amy had no such luck with the games they played. Once nine o'clock hit, the five watched fireworks. Although Spencer couldn't tell the difference between one annual show from the other, both Abigail and Geoff always enjoyed the show.

Back home, both Abigail and Geoff head off to bed, whilst Spencer and Danielle sat with Amy, watching various New Year's events from around the world. Eventually, the clock ticks over to the 1st of January, to which Amy cheered "Happy New Year."

"Happy New Year." Spencer yawned.

"And good night by the sounds of it." Dani jested.

"Yeah, I think so. Goodnight guys."

"Night."

Spencer walked off to bed, so Dani asked "Any New Year's Resolutions?"

"Not really. Do well at school and all that I guess.

"Can't argue with that."

"What about you?"

"Well, I guess getting onto my new career would count."

"I'd say so."

"Well I guess we'll count it then."

"You know, we should organize some photography trips during the year."

"That'll be cool."

"Alright. Let's make that our resolution, to do some photography trips."

"Sounds like a plan."

"Maybe we can do that tomorrow. I think I might go to bed."

"Okay. Night Dani."

"Night."

Dani stood up, as Amy sighed. "Dani?"

"Yeah?"

"You've been good for Dad."

"Awww." Dani sat down and hugged Amy, before kissing her on the cheek. "You've been great too Amy."

"Thanks. I love you Dani."

"Love you too." A tear fell down Dani's face.
