Myka investigates Jenny's... alone

Jenny’s Historic was tucked between a bakery overflowing with cinnamon rolls and a vintage clothing store crammed full of velvet jackets and bell-bottoms. The storefront window displayed an array of rubber chickens, novelty socks, and… well, let's just say there were more than enough dildos to satisfy the entire student body of Ashtonville State University.

I pushed open the door, greeted by a blast of warm air thick with incense and something vaguely metallic. A bell tinkled merrily above my head as I stepped inside. The shop was crammed floor-to-ceiling with every conceivable type of adult novelty imaginable: from feather boas to vibrating massage guns, from inflatable unicorns to… well, let's just say there were a few things that made me wonder if the local high school had an active student body government.

Behind the counter stood a woman whose name tag read "Jenny." She was petite with raven hair pulled back in a messy bun and piercing blue eyes framed by thick black eyeliner. A smattering of silver rings adorned her fingers, and she wore a tight-fitting black tank top that showcased an impressive collection of tattoos snaking up her arms.

She looked up from the magazine she was reading – "Vampire Erotica Monthly" - as I entered. Her lips curved into a knowing smile. “Welcome to Jenny’s Historic! Looking for something special?”

I gave her my best neutral Warehouse agent expression, which usually involved raising an eyebrow and saying nothing until the other person made their move.

“Actually,” I said smoothly, "I'm looking for information about a particular item." "Something… unusual.”

Jenny leaned back against the counter, crossing one leg over the other. Her smile widened, revealing a flash of white teeth that seemed just a little too sharp in the dim light filtering through the dusty window above her head.

“Unusual?” she purred, tilting her chin and letting out a soft chuckle. “Honey, you’ve come to the right place.” She gestured around the shop with a sweep of her hand. "We specialize in unusual."

I pulled out Artie's photo of Jenny's Sensations and placed it on the counter. "Have you seen anything like this recently?"

Jenny glanced at the picture, then back up at me. Her smile didn’t falter, but something about her eyes – a glint of amusement mixed with something else… predatory? - made my skin prickle.

“You know,” she said slowly, leaning closer and lowering her voice to a husky whisper that sent shivers down my spine, “we just got in a new shipment last week.” She tapped the counter beside the photo. "Something truly special."

She reached under the counter and pulled out a velvet-lined box. It was small enough to fit comfortably in one hand, but it felt surprisingly heavy. As she opened it, I caught a whiff of something metallic – like old blood mixed with cinnamon.

Inside lay a beautifully crafted silver pendant shaped like a stylized heart pierced by an arrow. The metal gleamed faintly, almost as if pulsing with its own inner light.

"It's… exquisite," I breathed, mesmerized by the intricate detail and strange energy emanating from it. “What is it?”

Jenny’s smile widened into something predatory. “Oh,” she purred, her voice a silken caress against my ear as she leaned closer still, "This little beauty? This is what they call… love's true calling."

She closed the box with a snap and met my gaze directly. Her eyes were no longer playful; they burned with an intensity that felt almost primal.

"And," she added softly, her voice laced with something akin to amusement, "it seems you’ve already answered its call.”
