My One

She rested her head on my shoulder again. She looked so cute, & ... delicate. Like something I was supposed to protect. Something that was mine. Something that I had achieved. And at the same time, I felt that if I did even the slightest wrongdoing, this would collapse. There was absolutely no chance for error here.

And while the thought excited me a lot, it kind of made me anxious too. But then, I asked a question. "Do you love me too?"

"Yes." she said without a second thought. Almost as if she was waiting for me to ask that question. "I always have. Even before you developed your crush on me."

"B-but I had a crush on you since day one."

"Hmm. I have seen you before, Arjun."

"Wh-where?"

She looked up at the sky. I looked too. "Not here. In a universe far, far, away from our own. A universe where we could do anything. Be anything. Where you could fly & I could read minds & become invisible."

I didn't know what to say. What did she mean!? Some other universe!? Huhh!? What!? But I do not know why, I said: "Then, why did we leave that universe?"

"We didn't."

"But you're here, so..."

"Listen carefully, Arjun. We. We did not. Just I did. Not because I wanted to, but because I had to."

We remained for sometime in silence. "What are you saying, Gwendol--"

"Call me Gwen."

"What do you mean, Gwen? What are you saying!? Nothing that you say makes any sense to me right now!"

"Hm. I know. It soon will. Don't worry." she looked at me & smiled. "Just keep loving me & holding my hand. I'll keep loving you & holding your hand too. After all, love is the single relation capable of transcending the barriers of universe, space & time." I smiled. So true!

I kissed her. She kissed me. And rested on my shoulders again...

"Interstellar?" I asked.

"Yeah." she chuckled.

I chuckled. And I sighed peacefully. Hmm...
