Chapter 3
by Cliffe
You need to get out of here! What do you want to do?
Move man, move!
Your eyes quickly move away from your surroundings, your attention shifting back onto the real problem here. The large piece of fucking metal that had fallen on you! Unable to see anything immediately nearby, you quickly resign yourself to doing things the old fashioned way and grit your teeth together as the gathering smoke burns in your chest and a weak, dull throbbing in the back of your head causes you to question whether or not you had hit your head at some point.
Steadying yourself as much as possible while lying down, you grip the broken steel beam with your right hand and roll to your left, pushing up on the large shaft of metal as you yell and curse through gritted teeth. It doesn't take much for you to push it off of you but the pain it puts you through is horrendous. The agonizing grinding feeling in your left side causes stars to dance in your eyes and forces you to lose what little breath you had.
As quickly as you can you forget the room around and the idea of looting it instead to go back to your own escape. The pungent odor of various chemicals and smoke brings you to ignore the semi-swept up piles of rubble as you immediately try to make your to the broken window at the far end of the room.
The idea of fresh, cool air and safety absently drives you forward as you step over overgrown vines on the ground and manage to gather a few cuts on your hands from the reinforced glass. Bright, radiant light shines down on you as you stumble out through the little hole in the window, your feet constantly catching on the more overgrown parts of the vines that you just quite can't seem to find as your walking. At long last though, you step outside into the great green world and take a breath of what surely has to be the cleanest air you have ever inhaled...
Only to keel over coughing as the leftover smoke in your lungs continues to burn and make it hard to breathe. A couple of long, hard minutes pass as you step away from the window, tripping all the while, and try to clear your lungs. Eventually you to a tree covered in vines, one of many like it in the area, and lean against while you assess the situation.
Your eyes roam down your body taking in the sleek male form and generally just trying to make sure you are alright. As you look over yourself, you quickly note the black tee and jeans you have on, accented with little touches of green & purple in a few places. The symbols might mean something to someone but you don't know what it could be, and right now you don't really care at the momemt.
Instead, your attention is drawn to lifting your shirt up and looking over your flat abdomen, up your decently muscular chest, to the large bruise and dried blood on your shoulder, a faint, dried trail leading down to the same shoulder from up your neck. You gently trace up and around until you a nice little tender spot on the back of your head, wincing as you touch it.
"...the hell happened?" You croak out. Your normally deep and almostsmoky voice was on he edge of crackling now. The weak pauses you had to take while talking left you almost silent as you turned back to face the window you had climbed out of and finally get a good look at the room you had escaped from.
A line of destruction, like a path ripped into the ground, stares back at you as you look at two great pieces of machinery the first like in a burning heap easily thirty feet tall with various fiery openings throughout the whole thing. The other piece was much larger, with a second, and then a third replica exaclty like the first remain attached to a main piece, though barely fixed onto it at some spots.
Great metallic wings, each one partially ruined, extend out from the sides of it, and you can see great broken legs, meant to hold it up scattered about. Various flaps are popped out from the main machine, stuck out with nothing left to call them back in. You can't help but to stare and gulp nervously as you just at the great spaceship crashed before you.
Sharp whistling sounds cut through the air as suddenly the main part of the ship bursts into flames with a boom, pieces of metal and shrapnel ripping into the surroundings and eviscerating some of the smaller trees into stumps as you take cover behind your own tree. Great orange flames erupt from the window you had escaped from and softer explosions go off throughout the ship. You're not going back that way. Great strong breaths finally start to make their way to you as you look around you.
For the most part though you don't see anything other than more trees, dirt, and vines. You could use a drink and...
You immediately freeze as you find a small pile of rubble and various items dragged away from the ship and just left there. Little tendrils of vines lay over some of it, but the most important thing you see is a nice, big canteen slightly buried in the pile.
