Morning sickness

It was early in the morning and Kazex had not been awake long when one of the female goblins came to him. Like all female goblins, she was grumpy. It was probably in her nature to be always in a bad mood. But she respected Kazex as their leader, so she tried her best to be polite.

"Cattle not eat" she grunted. She was still partially smeared with blood. Probably from the deer they had recently gutted.

"Explain yourself" Kazex replied. They didn't have much breeding stock, so if any got sick and died, that would be a problem.

"Actually, she ate. She had piece liver. But then vomited. Ungrateful piece spit it out! The good meat!" The goblin woman stomped her feet on the ground in anger. She bared her teeth and could barely contain herself.

"Calm down," Kazex said in a calm tone. "Take me to her."

Still pissed, she showed Kazex the way through the lower tunnels they had newly created and stopped when they were in front of the cage.

It was the young human creature, sitting scared and curled up in the corner. She was dirty, the remains of goblin semen stuck to her skin.

"Didn't you wash her?" There was anger in Kazex's voice. Yes, cattle were cattle, and they certainly had no freedom. However, he wanted them to be reasonably comfortable so that they would submit to him more easily.

The goblin woman backed away. "No, no master, I was going to do it, but then saw her vomit and came straight to master, believe me!" She was visibly frightened. In a fight, she might actually win. But Kazex was still the leader. One shout from him and they would all immediately jump on her and tear her apart.

Kazex did not like the answer, but he accepted it for now. That could be taken care of later, now let's take a look at the young breed.

Kazex approached the young girl. She was scared, but she let him. She was too afraid of the consequences if she did not.

Even after a close examination, he could not find any disease in her. She was well fed, had no fever or similar symptoms. She was absolutely healthy.

But what did she have?

Then Kazex had an idea. He had read about it once in a book. Unlike the other goblins, Kazex could read. He was educated and knew a lot about alchemy. The book said that human females vomit in the morning hours when their egg is fertilized. Kazex was pleased with this knowledge. This would mean that the tribe would soon grow.

And Kazex was also right in his theory. The girl's belly swelled significantly over the next three weeks.
