Mindy And Brian Talk

As Anna and JJ found themselves in the throes of passion, Mindy and Brian found themselves in a rather awkward situation instead. Once they returned to their room and were alone, the pair quickly realized they weren't exactly sure what to say. Brian couldn't get the teasing words of his sister from his head, did he like Mindy more than just a hookup, he didn't know. Mindy, on the other hand, had Kailyn's advice ringing like alarm bells along with the extra knowledge that Brian was fucking her on the side.

"I'm gonna go take a shower," Mindy said, diverting her eyes to the floor and skirting around Brian,

Brian instantly smirked, ready to offer her company but he stopped himself, he lowered his head and cleared his throat, "Alright, I'll take one after," Brian said while moving to the chest at the foot of the bed, "I'll change the sheets for us,"

"Thanks," Mindy smiled back, it comes off as nearly hollow and unsure.

The pair separated, as Mindy showered Brian did as promised and changed their bed into fresh sheets. Once Mindy finished Brian silently entered the bathroom and took a quick shower of his own. Mindy, as per the usual when she didn't know what else to do, took out her laptop and tried to focus on writing a bit. However once Brian finally did return, Mindy realized she had only stared at a blank screen for the last twenty minutes.

As Brian continued to dry off his hair Mindy shut her laptop and set it carefully on her end table, "No need to stop on my account," Brian chuckled,

"I wasn't really getting anyway," Mindy replied with a small sigh, "I might just turn in early tonight, or something," She added on with a shrug,

Brian nodded and finished drying his hair and tossed the towel into a small hamper by the dresser. With a sharp exhale he turned around and stared at Mindy, "Okay, can we just get all this shit out into the open? This awkward tension shit is honestly killing, and it's worse because I don't know why it's happening,"

"It's not just me, you're being a weird too!" Mindy instantly defended,

"Yeah, well so are you, so...yeah, here we fucking are," Brian stumbled back with while crossing his arms. The two teens stared at one another for a long minute before bursting into laughter, the tension immediately began to melt away between the two. "Look, I'm sorry if I've been weird and making things weird for you. Rachel said some shit to me today that shook me up, she always gets under my skin, I swear,"

"Oh, you too? Kailyn, did the same thing to me today too," Mindy sighed, "Not that I'm upset with her for it, she was only doing it out of concern,"

"What did she say?" Brian asked while sitting down on the edge of the bed,

Mindy slowly crossed her arms and looked at Brian expectantly, "Well, what did Rachel to you?"

Brian let out a short chuckle, "In the interest of not going down the path of me saying, I asked first, I'll just tell you. Few hours before we came back inside, Rachel started teasing me about you." Mindy's eyes drooped and she slowly started to hang her head, "Not in a bad way, Mindy!" Brian instantly reassured the girl, "She wasn't acting like a bitch and making fun of you. All she was saying was that I was..." Brian drifted off and let out a long exhale,

"What did she say, Bry?" Mindy asked while leaning closer to him,

"Rach said, I was falling for you and that...love or whatever was gonna bloom or whatever," Brian muttered back, the overconfident man finally showing a bit of embarrassment and uncertainty,

"Seriously?" Mindy asked in genuine surprise, "Kailyn basically told me the exact opposite,"

"Really?" Brian asked, taken aback,

"Yeah, after she told me about you two," Mindy began before giving the blonde teen a smirk, "Yes, I know about you and Kailyn hooking up,"

"Shit...I'm sorry, I-" Brian instantly began to apologize,

"Don't," Mindy easily interrupted, "I'm not upset over it, you and I are nothing close to exclusive. We hooked up a few times the last couple of days, and that's just how I was looking at it, it doesn't bother me knowing you were messing around with another girl. It only slightly bothered me that you were messing around with JJ's sister...but I'm not stepping on into that, so don't worry about it,"

"So, if that's not a problem...then what is?" Brian asked with a confused expression,

"Like I said, Kailyn said the opposite of what Rachel did. She said that you and I aren't ever going to go anywhere and that it's unfair to myself to continue down this way." Mindy replied with a low tone,

"This way?" Brian muttered almost indignantly,

"Yeah, this way, you know, you and me? Kai doesn't think us having a casual relationship is healthy for me. She knows I want a real commitment, like the one I wanted with Kenny for years, but since I moved on from him, I haven't felt that want anymore. She thinks I'm just ignoring things and trying to forget any worries by doing this," Mindy continued with a shrug, "So I don't know, what do you think?"

"Damn," Brian softly said, looking away from Mindy as he thought, "I don't know, we have one side saying we're getting closer but then we have another saying we couldn't be further apart...hell with that," Brian suddenly said, a sharpness in his voice.

Mindy looked to Brian with wide eyes, "What do you mean?"

"To hell with people telling you and me what we feel or need," Brian firmly replied, "What do you think? What do you want? Should we just stop things? Do you want to take something further with me? At this point, I just want to know where we stand!" Brian finished with a short exasperated laugh.
