"It was that or a rescue blanket," you tell her. "My swimsuit was still wet between the legs, and it was gonna chafe my lady parts."

"You look like you're in one of those crinkly white mailing envelopes. Or like the Michelin Man," she says. "Okay, I'll take you home after shift. But with what you're wearing, you can do Taylor's dumpster runs. She was complaining about it because she's got a date after shift."

"Good of her boyfriend to stay up late," you say. "Happy to oblige Miss Perky."

"I think her brother's picking her up, actually," Mandy says. "So maybe he's dropping her off with her date, or something."

"I'll pray she has a good one," you say.

"She always does, Taylor and her dates," Mandy says. "Picks a winner every time."

"Blessed," you say.

"I'll fix you up some coffee and pie, and you can sit in back," Mandy says. "You look ridiculous in that tent of a white suit."

"Trade you?" you say.

"No thank you, Mary," she says. "Got to get back off break now."

She bends forward to give you a kiss before bustling off to the kitchen.
