Make a little mess of things

Jax didn’t want to deal with Jessica at the moment, so he decided to try going back to sleep after what he just heard. He was still half asleep, so it didn’t take too long before he fell asleep again. Several hours later, Jax woke up and headed to the kitchen to get something to eat. Jax did notice Jessica sitting on the couch watching tv and immediately remembered the conversation from this mourning as he made himself some cereal. Jax wished that he still had his powers from yesterday so he could teach this spoiled brat a lesson. Nothing too life-changing, but enough for her to realize she’s wrong for thinking that way and to change her ways. Jax had all the power in the world and now it was all gone. Now, Jax is stuck without any powers and no conceivable way to change her views. Jax sat at the table and ate in silence until Jessica said hello.

“Hey, Jessica.”

“Still half asleep I see. Are you okay?”

“Why are you asking that?”

“Well, you didn’t go to work today, so I’m wondering if you were feeling sick.”

“No, I just had something important to do, so I took the day off.”

“What important thing do you have to do?”

“It’s a bit personal so I don’t really want to talk about it.”

Jessica made her way to the table, blinked a couple of times, and said “please”.

“Did honestly think that I would tell you just because you said please?”

“Come on, don’t be like that brother-in-law.”

“Don’t call me that.”

“Why not?”

Jax sighed wondering if he would be hanging onto her every word if he didn’t know that she was subtly trying to manipulate him. Jax thought it would be better to switch topics and **** her to tell him more things about herself not that he doesn’t already know enough to know that he doesn’t like her anymore.

“By the way, when do your classes start?”

“Oh, they start next week. If I need help studying, then you wouldn’t mind lending me a hand right.”

I wonder if you actually mean helping you out or manipulating me and other people to do it for you.

“I see. Are you the type of girl who constantly needs to be tutored to get by in school?”

Jessica who is so proud of who she and where she is in life at the moment would be devasted to know that Jax’s last sentence completely changed her life. Instead of hanging out with friends or enjoying her hobbies, she was stuck in her room all the time with various tutors to help her get through school. The manipulation skills she bragged about to her sister were never learned because she was stuck at home all the time. Also, as a result of this change, Jessica is drastically less intelligent than she was before.

“Even if I needed a little help on the way, it doesn’t mean I didn’t get here using my hard work.”

“Of course. Every single one of your tutors was female, right? No males at all.” Jax said as his voice practically radiated sarcasm.

Jessica was too busy dealing with another change in her life to notice as all her male tutors were replaced with female tutors.

“If it's true then so what.”

Jax knows she’s lying, and it pisses him off even more.

“Yeah, I’m sure you are telling the truth. You’re simply stating facts, right? I’m sure there’s plenty of people who beg to differ so you can stop telling me all these lies. But I know you won’t because I’ve learned that’s just who you are. Well, here’s a lie of my own then. Nobody in your entire life up to this point actually cares about you, right?” Jax says as he finishes his cereal and leaves the house not noticing how different Jessica looked as he left her with that question.

Jax decided to go gambling because going anywhere would be better than talking to Jessica. Jax makes his way to Gino’s Underground but he wasn’t playing any big games today. Jax decided that he should have some fun playing with the slot machines instead. Jax honestly didn’t care if he won or lost, he was just playing to calm down and get his mind off things. When he was playing the slot machines, Jax realized that he might’ve been more upset at the fact that he lost his powers than the fact that she talked shit about him. Jax checked his wallet to find out that he lost a bit more than he won, so he called it quits for today. Jax thought he may have been a bit too harsh with Jessica before he left so he decided to text Julie and ask her what Jessica likes. Jax thought that he could smooth things over with a tasty treat. However, Julie had no idea what Jessica likes and couldn’t provide any input whatsoever. Jax didn’t know what to do so he chose cake as his apology sweet. People like Red-Velvet Cake plus it was on sale so Jax thought it was a win-win situation as he drove home.

Jax walked through the door but he saw no signs of Jessica. Jax searched the house and eventually found her in her room sleeping. Jax thought that this might be for the best as he left the room and wrote a quick note telling her that how sorry he was for what he said earlier. Jax left the cake and note next to her bed as he left to get some work done.
