Lt. Commander T'Reng

Rob was fairly sure that he would be more of a surprise to his commanding officer than visa versa.

Rob was definitely mistaken on that account. Sitting behind the desk in the security chief's office was a Vulcan male, wearing the rank insignia of a Lieutenant Commander on his uniform. The Vulcan stood up and, in a very human fashion, offered his hand. Still somewhat startled, Rob took it.

 "Ensign Daniels. I was just reviewing your academy record. Very impressive. I believe you will be a welcome addition to the Potemkin's security complement. I suggest you get settled into your new quarters. Your first two weeks on the ships will be supplemental training. Once you're settled in, your trainer will contact you. As long as you stay 'squared away', as the human saying goes, you will have no problems aboard the Potemkin. I won't detain you any longer."

 Rob made his way to his quarters, wondering again what a Vulcan was doing in security. Not that Vulcans were incapable of martial prowess; it was simply that they were usually drawn to other areas in Starfleet, particularly science.

Rob had been in his quarters all of half an hour when there was a chime at his door. Rob opened the door and met his trainer.
