Chapter VI - The First Battle

No, you can't risk Squirtle getting hurt, as well as giving that perverted kid the satisfaction of winning.

"Screw you asshole!" You yell at the boy.

"Nice meeting you, hope you don't die out here." He chuckled as he kept his head forward. You watch as the boy disappears into the night. The trees of Route 1 block any moonlight from bleeding in. The path was barely visible and there are so many trees that they have little to no insight to guide you. You tighten the grip on your bag and head in what looks like an opening in the trees. Hopefully, this is the correct way.

The path seemed to go on longer than before, each turn making you feel like you were going in circles. You're about to give up when you hear a noise. Please don't let it be that kid again. You peek around the corner of the path and see a group of Rattata scurrying off in all directions with pieces of fruit. The sound of your stomach rumbling echoes around the trees. Oh no. You realize you haven't eaten since breakfast. You check your bag for any scraps of food but you forgot to pack any. That's what you get for being in such a rush this morning. But what harm would it be for you just to take a piece of the fruit? You're sure they won't mind. You approach the group slowly, trying to make a little noise as possible. You figure if you can scare them, they'll run off.

But just at that moment, one of the Rattata turns around an sees you. It's deafening screech drowns out the sound of your hungry stomach. The dozen or so Rattata turn around to see what's happening. They all start to growl at you. Standing up straight, you grab the Pokéball from your bag and hold it firmly in your hand.

"Alright, if I can't have it, neither can you." You throw the ball onto the ground and Squirtle surfaces from the blinding light. Its face determined, ready for battle. The Rattata seem a little hesitant at first but it's not long before Squirtle is overpowered by them all. You command Squirtle to tackle. It manages to get a few good hits in, but not enough to come out victorious. You see the ring of the Pokéball glow a deep red, signifying that Squirtle is almost out of HP. You call Squirtle to return and are ready to run away as the Rattata are now very hostile.

You start to sprint the second Squirtle is secure in his ball. You look back and realize that you might have escaped when something bites your foot. One of them caught up? The pain of its fangs sinking into your foot is enough to bring you tumbling down. You roll onto the dirt path and kick the Rattata off. You notice a few more sprinting towards you. Before you know it, you're in the same position as Squirtle, overpowered by a group of Rattata. You feel each one of there fangs trying to cut deep into you. You keep throwing them off but it's too late. You're a mess. The Rattata have given up after they kept being thrown to the ground by you. But they did their damage. Now bruised, bitten, covered in dirt, and clothes torn, you stand up and start limping down the more visible path. It was morning.

The light of the sun allowed you to see the rips in your clothes. A huge rip down the stomach of your tank top revealed your flat stomach, now covered in dirt. A few smaller rips and tears covered your top and skirt, luckily nothing too private is visible. The ends of your skirt frayed out, everything was ruined. Squirtle was also out of HP so there was no way you could battle or catch anything on your way. You figure you probably should have fought the kid. Even if you had lost, flashing him your underwear wouldn't be as bad as this. And even if he did tell anyone, they wouldn't believe him, right?
