Chapter 9 by MidbossMan MidbossMan

What will you tell Liens?

Let her know that you want to prioritize her comfort

**** to find some way to squash the dread of the whole squire-and-saintess experience for Liens, you told the elf that you weren't planning to **** her to do anything strange. You didn't see her as anything but a noble saintess. To that end, you were ready to make to make her time with you as comfortable as possible. If she wanted things to be normal, they'd be normal. If she wanted things slow, they'd be slow. It'd all be on her schedule.

The woman pondered for a moment, pressing one hand to her cheek as a frown rested on her lips. "Not bad. Okay. But what if? Stay with me here. What if? No sex."

You lowered your eyebrows in confusion, trying to follow along with her hypothetical. Was she saying that she wasn't going to fulfill the role Geod had assigned her as a saintess? Heresy wasn't punishable like it was in the old days, but... if she'd been marked as a saintess and come all the way out here for the sake of the prophecy, certainly she felt a sense of duty? Or perhaps she felt that it was okay to play the probabilities-- to neglect the small chance that she was the destined mother of the next generation's hero?

"No." She backed away for a moment, then waved one open hand at her workshop. "Working on something. New. Ground-breaking. Called artificial insemination."

You raised both hands in a shrug, making it clear you had no idea what she was talking about.

The woman rubbed her temples irritably, then continued. "Sex, for me, is illogical. Almost as illogical as being a mother. Don't have time for it. Don't want it. So I'm developing a way around it. Well, half of it. Artificial insemination. Won't need to have sex then. Get it?"

You asked her, nervously: did this mean there was no need for squires? Would you still be able to fulfill your duties?

"Yes. Don't worry about it. Fuck everybody else. Just not me. Don't need to. Artificial insemination will take care of that. Prophecy fulfilled. Everyone happy. Everybody fucks off. Plus, then, the women in town can have kids again too. Without tying them to squires. Two birds. One stone." She placed her hands into her apron pockets, then turned to walk away without so much as a goodbye. "You can be a hero. Just stay out of my way."

It sounded like she was trying to take herself off the table, so to speak. Was that okay? It might still lead to the fulfillment of Geod's prophecy. This was a question for a scholar, not a squire...
