Lengthy, but smooth

It has been a couple days since Marius left the hunter’s cabin. The directions the hunter provided were good, and in truth the Rune Blade could have gotten to the cave sooner...but there were preparation to be made. This was a potentially a very dangerous destination after all.

First, Marius had used a rune to help ensure he wouldn’t be bothered by the wildlife. It was a rune that obfuscated his presence, making him hard to detect to creatures that did not pay much attention. Sadly this wasn’t a rune he could have on his equipment and thus had to use a one time use runic slab. He had only a few of these left to use. But it was a good general use item.

Then, he had made sure he had a vial if silver oil ready. It was concoction of blessed garlic oil with silver dust poured into it. It was a convenient thing to have to make your weapon exceptionally potent against dark creatures, especially Vampires and their thralls.

He also temporarily boosted the rune that augmented his senses. If there was a blood mage or Vampire present, he was going to smell their vile blood before he saw them. He also made sure that his rune of dark sense was active. It was a rune that allowed him to detect any taint of dark magic in a person’s being. This would help confirm the presence of a dark magic user or evil creature.

He had also checked that his plethora of combat runes on his sword, weapons, and body were still intact. Runes that increased his strength, endurance, reflexes, agility, and the integrity of his equipment, as well as his anti-magic capabilities. He paid extra close attention to the rune on his blade which would ignite the sword and engulf it in flames. It would help harden the silver-laced oil into the blade, allowing the oil to stay on for longer, but Vampires and werecreatures did have a weakness to such things.

Once the preparations were made, it took a significantly short time to finally reach the cave. Already he could tell something was of about this place. He smelt the blood in the air and he could see the foul taint of dark magic just exploding from the place. His enchanted eye sight seeing the gusts of dark magic energy roaring from the cave’s opening, and saw a dark aura permeating around it in a thick smog.

Marius sneered at this, “Whatever foul deeds are being committed here...it is exceptionally awful. I think whoever or whatever is in that cave, is far more than just some blood mage or Vampire...”
