Legality
Now, in the business of being a henchman. A single question constantly comes up, whether it be from the highest echelons of a henchman guild or to the lowest recruit who is trying to understand the ins and outs of his new job.
That question being, is all of this legal?
The answer is a bit of a mix of yes and no, allow me to explain.
You are a henchman and most of the time henchman do things that aren’t exactly legal. Whether that be ****, theft, or worse. Most of it is for the most part highly illegal had for good reason.
Originally, before the guilds were a thing, henchman used to simply just point to their immediate employer and say that they were responsible for all their wrongdoings as they hired them to do so however, the more politically minded or well-connected were able to turn this finger-pointing around and ultimately have a henchman to go to jail for the very crimes they committed in addition to the crimes that they had their henchman commit.
Which is one of the main reasons why henchman guilds came into existence, to protect the henchman from those who would use the political connections or use them as throwaway pieces on a chessboard.
That being said, once the henchman guilds came into existence. Henchmen and their services no longer became exclusive to evildoers of the multi-verse. As many normal people began to ask and even request the services of these henchman guilds this system in everyday life as henchman were essentially extremely well-trained and well-educated workers for hire.
So, it became natural that sometimes henchman began to incorporate contracts and even jobs that were completely legal and on the up and up. Adding to the overall legitimization of the henchman profession. As the public perception of the henchman began to shift from an evildoer to a man for hire that anyone can call upon for whenever they need an extra hand. Whether that be babysitting a dog, guarding a bank, or something such as providing medical services to those who needed it.
So, while it is entirely possible for someone in the henchman guild to do both legal and illegal acts during their time as a member of a henchman guild.
That said, that brings back up the issue of having people use henchman as disposable pawns or worse in their little games they play with others. Eventually, this led to a whole new rule being created, but that is for later discussion.
Right now, we will simply discuss what protections you have against such games as well as what is considered legal and illegal during your time as a henchman.
This brings us up to your legal protections as a henchman.
Legal protections
the first henchman guilds came into existence, they created and make deals with a series of different majors create a complex array of spells to better protect and hide the henchman in their guilds from the powers that be. Over time, the spells have been added on to and have been supplemented with far more modern methods of computer viruses and political connections.
This all has effectively rendered all henchmen who work for a henchman guild above the law, giving them a form of diplomatic immunity from the laws that exist out there.
Now that being said, it does not mean henchmen are exclusively above the law all the time. As in return for offering such services, the henchman guilds police themselves. As they create regulations and rules and even requirements to create roadblocks to ensure that their henchmen do not think that they are above the law.
Effectively meaning, that so long as a henchman is on contract and is doing their job, they are for the most part immune from the law.
This brings us to the next subject.
Henchmen are above the law when on contract.
Henchmen are exclusively above the law when they are on contract to ensure that they perform their duties to the best of their ability. This is due to the spells and viruses and other safeguards created by the guilds in years past.
However, there is a caveat to this being that when a henchman is not on a contract. They are susceptible to the law just like everybody else. This is often the big compromise the henchman guilds have with the many different governments that had to interact with in the past. Being that their henchmen are allowed to operate in these nations freely and above the law with impunity, so long as they are on contract. Otherwise, they are subject to the law just like any other person.
Finally, let us talk about licenses.
Licenses.
Licenses were created to ensure that henchmen are not only competent in what they do but to also ensure that they have good judgment and will **** their abilities for their gain. Otherwise, the henchman guilds would be held responsible for the large list of psychotic maniacs that would be running around with impunity. To counter this, the license system was created and established to ensure the safety of not only the general public but also other fellow henchmen as to better catch and prevent those who are far more mentally deranged from gaining more power than they should.
As a result, you may not be able to take on certain contracts if you do not have these licenses registered.
Those licenses and the contracts related to them are as follows.
License to kill: Required for contracts that deal in situations that might require lethal ****. (Guarding, ****, Military Ops, Etc…)
Firearm License: Required for Henchmen who wish to use and store firearms with the guild. (Required for Military Path.)
Explosive License: Required for Henchmen who wish to deal with or transport Explosives.
Power Armor License: Required for Henchmen who wish to use and store Power armored suits with the guild. (Exo, frames, or otherwise.)
Medical License: Required for Henchmen who wish to pursue the Medical Path.
Pilot’s License: Required for Henchmen who wish to operate and store Aircraft with the guild.
Technicians License: Required for Henchmen who wish to pursue the path of engineering.
Now many more licenses exist out there, but these are the most general licenses the most guilds have. As every guild as their types of licenses that are unique to them, one guild that specializes in magic may make a requirement for you to gain a license in a type of magic, before taking jobs that specialize in the use of it.
Hopefully, this has helped you understand and come to terms with the laws and legality of the many different henchman guilds that exist out there.
